I didn't think to check smashwords I did check ARe, but they didn't have it. I got it from Google as well.

I was working in Calibre and suddenly my screen shut off. Now my PC makes a strange, loud noise when I try to turn it back on. After all the computer drama earlier, I was really hoping to make it to the end of the year without any more Back to the shop tomorrow. Hopefully nothing too major as I haven't backed up my work from today yet.

Buzzing or squealing. Something is wrong as the monitor kept going to sleep (before the noise started). I had dropped something and cut my thumb picking it up so I wasn't paying attention to the screen until it shut itself off. It was the second or third time I tried to restart it that the noise started. So then I unplugged it. It was just a coincidence that I knocked the stuff off a nearby shelf at the time this all happened as nothing fell on the PC (it is underneath a long table next to my desk). Maybe the fan is going out? I am at a loss. But since I couldn't get the screen to come on there isn't much I can do.

Sounds like the power supply to me. At worst the Hard drive. A fan going out wont put the monitor to sleep. My money is on the PSU. Easy to replace don't worry but don't turn it on anymore those things can explode.

Ah just read about the screen not coming on. I almost positive it's the PSU.

Hubby needs a new one his is OLD! I think it was manufactured in 2007 but then again so was my Desktop but I don't know how but hasn't hard drive has failed yet but it sure sounds everyday like it's dying.

I have Samsung ATIV Book 4 I believe Brian has one too (whereever he went off to?) I like it but hate Windows 8. You might want to hold off til Windows 10 is released it got to be better than 8.

That was on my list, too. I can't remember if they replaced the PSU when I had all of my issues earlier. I know they replaced the hard drive twice as the first time it failed after a day. I figured that was my lemon quota for a while We shall see in the morning.

Waiting on Windows 10 is the only reason I have not gotten one. I love Win 7. I cannot decide if I want to purchase before or after Win 10 releases. I got my current computer the night before Win 7 released and it was $500 off. I went and got Win 7 the next day and installed it. I do know that if I do not like Win 10 my computer guy told me he could go back to Win 7 for me on anything I get. I just know I need a new one. My CD-Rom stopped working 2 years ago. I have keys missing, letters wore off the keys lol I have used & abused my current computer

Most laptops today don't have a disc drive. I just ordered a USB power one for $25 from Amazon. I need to backup some stuff. I have my laptop connected to my desktop so I never have to get on the desktop anymore. It's a bit creepy watching the desktop monitor at times mirror what you are doing on the laptop.

I am going to lie down the fever is back from last week. I am starting to think it isn't a flu but an infection of some kind. I don't feel sick or hot even but my thermometer says different. That is why I think it's a infection.

Oh my hubby killed my desktop last year. I never got it fixed. I took the monitor and connected it to my laptop but I do not mirror them they are each different screens. Now if I go to my parents house and do something on there computer it seems strange without to monitors lol

Go rest and I hope you feel better soon. You might need some antibiotics.
