My normal text size for reading is one of the larger middle-sized ones. The smaller ones are too small for me and the larger ones are to large for me; I use the one that's just right. It's sort of like Goldilocks & the Three Bears. It's not a matter of worrying about someone looking over my shoulder and commenting on the text size; why would I care about that? Reading with too large a text size can be just as uncomfortable as reading with a too small one. I have to switch up to a larger text size when my eyes get tired because it then becomes easier for me to read using that larger size - where before it wasn't. ”Setting it and forgetting it" simply doesn't work on my case, and it's only the action of a moment to change the text size, so it's not an onerous chore. Some people, one the other hand, have very acute vision and they are comfortable with the smaller text sizes. I do think that an important criteria in an ereader is the range of text sizes available, because no one really knows at the time of puchase which size/font combination they are going to find the most agreeable. The more choices provided, the less need to ”settle". Not everyone has the opportunity to try out a particular ereader before purchase. All of my ereaders were purchased without ever trying out a working demonstration model, with the exception of the Nooks. I had never even seen the others in real life beforehand. So my purchases had to be made strictly from online specs, ad copy, user videos, and online user recommendations . Last edited by Xanthe; 12-14-2014 at 06:21 PM. And if I need to do this testing. Can I do it on a regular Kindle and a less expensive Kobo (mabye the "Kobo Touch" But that's $99. Maybe when it goes on sale it will be what, $69 maybe?) Wonder how long the PW will be $99. Since I've been following it it seems like it goes to $99 pretty frequently. Would you agree or have they just been pricing it there lately? For the Kindle PW, $99 is for a refurbished unit. There's no problem buying a refurbished unit from Amazon as it comes with the full warranty. As for Kobo, the Aura is a better Reader then the Touch and at $99, it's a pretty good price. http://www.chapters.indigo.ca/ereadi.../ereaders/aura |

Edit: mhh seriously thinking about it. It can be bundled with 6 months of KU for $30. That would be a total saving of $50 for me since I already have KU. Have to find out if the KU offer is also for existing KU subscribers and if my no-ads can be switched over from my PW1. Last edited by DuckieTigger; 12-14-2014 at 11:59 PM. |

I think I remember reading somewhere, either here on in the Amazon Kindle forum that someone did have the no-ads switched from one device to another. You'll have to contact Customer Service, but I'm pretty sure it's doable.

Thank you, I believe I have seen it as well. I would need it confirmed by cs though before I place the order just to be sure.

![]() Drop caps have big top/bottom blank space (the K does not respect margin-bottom, margin top values, which may be my issue) OTOH embedded fonts (I sometime use for chapter titles) seem to work out |
