So I have this book and look at the cover. Nice and romantic right? Well I open the book and get greeted with a naked woman's rear on the cover that looks very erotic to me.

So now that has me wondering is the original cover misleading or is it the new cover?!?

Is it a romance or is it an erotic romance.

I have one of this series in my TBR...The Bounty. It must have been a freebie at some point. The original Samhain covers from 2006-2007 were much racier and did not seem very historical so I understand why they revised them all. I haven't read the one I have yet, but most of the books I have from Samhain I wouldn't descibe as erotic romance.

FWIW, Williamson's author bio-blurb does say that she "is a Career Achievement Award Nominee in Erotic Romance by Romantic Times Magazine, in both 2009 and 2010" and that her books "range from sensual to scorching hot", and ARE gives that particular book 4 out of 5 flames on the heat index.

Most of her Samhain freebies that we've gotten in the past were historical western erotic romances, IIRC. But they've probably toned down the covers now that erotic has gone more mainstream (or people just have higher mainstream expectations for more in the way of what SBTB likes to call the "man-titty" on covers now).

9 people on goodreads have is shelved at erotica and a few of my friends have it under scorching hot shelves.
The sexy cover is listed first on goodreads, I think that means that is the newer one? Doesn't say though. But it sounds more like erotic romance to me going by the goodreads shelves. Its also being called a sweet romantic story with folks crying throughout.

So why put a romantic cover on it if it's erotica? That is misleading the reader. Is this a new trend?

The erotic cover is the old one and the couple one is the new one.

I have it too it seems the cover is less romantic though than book 2.

I've only been able make HQN transactions through IE and refuse to use IE. And the last time I did, they required a CC# for a free title. They've lost my sales!

I've "bought" several freebies there this week with no CC. I think that was a glitch when they first rolled out the new system. It's been fixed for quite a while now.
