Duplicated Collections Again!!!

I made the mistake of leaving my wifi on on my Kobo Aura H20 and it upgraded to 3.12.

I have 26 pages of empty collections now instead of just the three pages I should have. Can someone tell me what I have to do now to get rid of the all the collections that I shouldn't have.

I love my H20 but the kobo bugs just **** me off!

The duplicated shelves should be removable via the Kobo Utilities plugin; check the Database menu item.

The reason I say should is that I had problems myself with duplicate shelves and the plugin did not resolve the problem. I have eMailed Davidfor a copy of the database and will see if he has any ideas.

Yes, i had the same experience, but only 11 pages.

This is my only peeve with Kobo but it is a hugely irritating one, especially as these extra shelves won't delete, and it screws with my OCD.

I've had the same exact problems with two different Kobos and the problem was solved by using calibre to create the collections and load all ebooks. Unfortunately the latest version of calibre, 2.12, doesn't work with the latest firmware upgrade from Kobo, 3.12. But I understand that a new version of calibre is forthcoming in the next week or so and hopefully that will solve your problems. It worked for me previously. See the sticky topic -Quick Guide to Shelf Management and it will walk you through how to set everything up.

Its not working for me too. It says I have 256 shelves of which 117 are duplicated (it should be much more thats duplicated) but it doesn't actually remove anything.

I'm not on 2.12, i'm on 2.09 so I wonder why the utilities plug in isn't working for me.

Calibre works perfectly with the current kobo f/w; you just need to select the option Attempt to support newer firmware in the Customize option for the driver.

The duplicated shelf issue is not related to calibre; rather it's a long time issue with Kobo syncs. with the cloud. There does though seem to be a bug right now with the Kobo Utility plugin option to cleanup duplicated shelves.

One option when you DO get things back is to add the option SyncShelves=false to the [ApplicationPreferences] section of the .kobo\Kobo\Kobo eReader.conf file on the device. This will ensure that shelves don't get synced with the Kobo cloud.

I believe the problem is with the Kobo upgrade and not calibre. Calibre says there will be an upgrade in a few days to work Kobo 3.12.

i've already added the SyncShelves=False. I did that just now.

My Calibre 2.09 seems to be working fine with my Kobo running 3.12 but just in case its not where would I find the driver to Customise? I looked in Calibre preferences but couldn't spot it.

Edited to say I've found it now thanks. Calibre wasn't playing nice with my Kobo

Thanks, until then i'm going to have to remove books from the Kobo as i have around 600 on my Aura and I can't deal with that number without workable collections.

Prefs - Plugins - Device Interface plugins - double-click KoboTouch entry (or KoboTouchExtended) and check bottom-right 'Attempt to support newer firmware'

Now my Kobo is playing nice with Calibre the Utilities plug in has reduced my number of pages to 10, but within those 10 pages each collection is either there twice oR up to four times.

I test software releases for a living haven't Kobo ever heard the word 'Regression'. Why can't they test their releases for gods sake!

I'm now stuck with 97 shelves when the plugin says 54 are dupicates but it won't remove them

Still i'm grateful the plugin removed 16 pages, I can manage with 10
