The software update includes general improvements and performance enhancements.

Installing now. I hope it fixes the volume issue. I think it just went up this morning. It was not available when I checked on my Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 using the update tab so I manually downloaded to check it out.

I am little disappointed - this version unfortunately resized grid of icons in the Home screen and they are 1 row less now...

Five rows fit when you swipe down to your Home Screen Favorites now rather than six? I never had five or even six rows worth of favorites, but looking at the spacing before and after the update... pretty sure it would fit six rows before and only five will fit now.

I can't image the icons being any smaller. They are already too small for such a big screen. Unless you're saying they are bigger, which would be a plus for me. Will have to install update later.
