Version 2.1.00 - 10 Dec 2014

The big change this version is the inclusion of new HTML parsing libraries BS4, html5lib and a couple supporting packages. Not all sites are parsed using the new parser, but several are including fanfiction.net and AO3.

Alright, I'm trying to figure out how to do something with the downloader, and I'm not sure if it's available or not, so I'm asking on the thread. I'm trying to get the tags (not just the classification/genre ie Science Fiction, Humor, Erotica but the full tags that describe the story content) to be input into metadata when I download a story. I wouldn't mind getting the 'warning' too, but primarily I'd like the tags.

Originally I tried every custom column (adding it into an additional column) but none of them had it available. Then, I looked into the options within the defaults.ini. I'm seeing an option called site tags. I think it's possible, but I can't figure out how.

I tried these lines in my personal.ini
extratags:sitetags
extra_titlepage_entries:sitetags
Then both, nothing. I tried with 'notice' too, and that didn't work for either.

I’m probably doing it all wrong, but while I’m far from computer illiterate, I’m not sure what I am doing wrong. Anyone willing to help me out?

Or, am I wrong, and the story tags (more than just the base classification) not available?

BTW, I want to note my appreciation for this plugin, it has helped me keep up with my fanfiction addiction with ease. I used to use deffnet... all the incarnations of it, but this plugin makes things so much easier. And now, with all the other sites available, it's gotten even better!

What site and what tags on that site are you trying to get? Assume that I don't read that site and have never seen it--because it's probably true.

Last month storiesonline.net changed from 'Codes' to 'Tags'. Now they've changed back again. Or perhaps it depends on the story. It helps if you post story URLs when you have a problem.

Attached is a version that should work with either Codes or Tags on the story.

This version also contains updates for changes to the fictionmania.tv site--thanks cryzed.

Tried the new one, it’s still not getting the codes/tags, on any story I try.

Here’s an example.

It pulls the Synopsis, places it correctly. It uses the Genre as a tag. It also tags it as ‘Complete’ but those are the only two tags (in calibre) I get when I download it. On the site, the codes/tags it shows consist of "Ma/Fa, Romantic, Fiction, Tear Jerker", and those are the one’s I’m trying to figure out how to get in there.

Also, I have several dozen stories I’ve downloaded in the past month(s), and none of them show up with tags. I’ve gone through the whole list in calibre.

As I mentioned in the original post, I thought it might be some sort of switch placed in the personal.ini to enable the codes/tags, but I get nothing. Sorry this is taking time, but I appreciate the help.

It was broken before, which is why nothing you tried worked. For historical reasons, FFDL ini talks about 'subject tags' because that's what they're called inside epub files.

Try this:

## adds to include_subject_tags instead of replacing it.
extra_subject_tags:sitetags

## You many also want:
extra_titlepage_entries:size,universeHTML,sitetags,notice

I had seen:

in the ini, but not extra_subject_tags anywhere, after doing a search, I understand why. I see how it's setup. I've never done too much within the ini file beyond the basics so I appreciate you helping out a lot.

is there a list, somewhere of ini markups that will work? I've kind of glanced around,, but I see a lot of people referring to renaming tags, and examples like the above
"extra_subject_tags" stuff.

something like: "other things you may wish to try" or some such?

The 'defaults.ini'. See the big button at the bottom of the personal.ini tab.

But I've never gotten around to making a text search feature for the plugin ini, so you may also want to visit the 'example.ini' that new users get and the defaults.ini in the source code:
