Is ths normal?

I know ereader are not perfectly white.
I have seen a PW1 and it was greyish not yellowish.

Is everyone's PW2 like this?

I have given a picture of text book and paperback book for reference.
OK, I've just put my PW2 in front of my monitor next to your pictures, and the "lights on" pic is way different from mine. Did that picture come out representative of your screen?

I get about the same brightness as in your "lights on" picture with my PW2's light is set to 14. But mine is creamier in color, not as green.

When I set my PW2's light to 21 like in your picture, mine is much brighter, just a tad creamy in its whiteness.

If those pictures truly represent your PW2 (I'd call it greenish and dully lit), then take it into a store and compare, as it seems way off.

You get what you get. Could be white, could be yellow, same as with new. I believe it comes with the same warranty so you're covered there. I always just return it and buy a new one. That way I can do the same again, if needed.

Are you sure you don't have to send yours in? That's not the way it normally works. Even with an old PW1 that they were going to send me a PW2 refurb on, they wanted the PW1 back and were ready charge, get this, $20.00 if I didn't. You'd better double-check that. You'll probably get an email telling you what to do. Watch for it.

You'll be able to access your existing Kindle Library and change your subscription delivery options on the Manage Your Content and Devices page (www.amazon.com/mycd). If you'd like to access your Kindle Library while you're waiting for your replacement, we have several free Kindle applications that you can use, which can be found at the link below:

Good deal! Didn't realize that you're out of the US. Makes sense. No idea if you can get a replacement on that. That's an Amazon question.

I have told them several times to check the screen before shipping the replacement.
Lets see if I get a good one this time

Nobody can check the screen. They're all in sealed boxes.

Honestly, Dave, whether your screen is "good" or not is purely a matter of personal perception. Your photographs look absolutely fine to me. I don't think you can really say that your Kindle is faulty.

Your screen is so much more white than mine.I want a screen like that.
How can the same product have so much variation?
Pick 10 ipads and you will get exact same screen.
Amazon has poor quality control.
Its not like they are manufacturing the eink screen.
The company Eink does that.
Amazon just sticks the touch layer and light layer on top of that.

Understood. Just a matter of "pot luck", I'm afraid. There is wide variation between individual eInk screens.

Dave329 I'm seeing a huge amount of red-green colour artefact from what I assume is a mobile phone camera. Makes it hard to see anything else.

My PW2 (first scan) is more like the one on the right. I don't mind that hue.

Many people prefer a warmer tone to the screen. It really is down to personal preference.

This thread made me wonder if I got a PW with dull light too.
The light of my PW seems even, yet it has a grey/blue tint which is particulary visible with lower brightness settings in dark environments.
If I set the brightness to 24 the light seems ok. Yet If I read at night with a sidelamp with 10-14 setting the screen has a "glowing" effect which I find distracting. Is it supposed to be like that?
I also read that you should be able to read reasonably well in total darkness with the light set to 0. My screen is almost dark at 0 and I start to see something at 5-6. I'd say that reading begins to be reasonable at 8-11, but the screen is far from being white.
Is it the same for you?
