As I said, Joe, if I already had an Air1, I wouldnt bother. The weight difference isnt *that* significant. I chose to go with the later model because I wanted 128GB which is no longer available in last year's version.

My sister is currently planning to swap for Ipad Air 1 but just in case she doesn't find a 128gb memory I will really recommend an Ipad Air 2. I think it would be better to go with bigger memories all the time. I wish the latest version had more upgrades and new features though. Personally, I really want a waterproof tab but my sister is such an apple fangirl.

Also a decent stylus... Not sure which... I'll be looking to others for advice
I don't like the clamcase at all. There is no way to use the keyboard in portrait. You are stuck in landscape. The Logitech keyboard works very easily in both landscape and portrait. My wife has a Logitech for her iPad 3 and it work very well and matches perfectly. Plus it costs less.

Do you often use it in portrait mode? I seem to be 95% in landscape mode. Actually, the only use case is a few games that requires portrait mode, otherwise I vastly prefer landscape.

I have the thin Logitech keyboard for iPad 2 and I like it very much, and I can only assume that they've gotten better.

Sometimes portrait is useful. So I would not want to limit myself to just landscape. That's why the Logitech keyboard is very good. You can go from portrait to landscape and back very easily. Plus, it looks just like it was part of the iPad when it's on as a case.

I already have an air 1 and didn't see the need to update. I suppose it depends on what you want to do with it and how long you want to keep it. If you don't intened to do any heavy duty tasks (video game editing) then the air 1 Should be sufficient.

Ended up not waiting for the clamcase, I got another logitech but not the ultrathin this time (thats what I had for my ipad3) i never used it in portrait mode so this time chose to go with a keyboard folio style, which then gives rear protection as well.

http://www.logitech.com/en-au/produc...air2?crid=1240 and its not coming soon, its been released.

iPad Air vs. Air 2

Its hard to tell when they are also weighed down by their locking devices in store but the air2 was lighter. when I got it home i held my mini (first gen) in one hand, and the air2 in the other, and found not much difference.

I have osteoarthritis of the wrists and hands, and this affects the kind of weight I can hold whilst sitting on the couch (I've been using my ipad3 permanently in the slot of the Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard cover) .... the air2 was *easy* by comparison. I'll probably sell the mini, now, and not bother getting another. Getting a grip is fine. I dont think its too thin. You could bend or break it, I imagine, if you set about doing it... but simply holding it between fingers as normal? No issues.

I'm *really* happy with the purchase, but, if I had an Air1, I would not bother upgrading. Its not a significant enough upgrade, to my mind.

Just visit the Apple store that is close to work during lunch time. I brought my iPad Air. I then hold and use the iPad Air 2 for 5 min, using browser and few apps. I noticed the weight difference, immediately.

I'm thinking in selling both of my iPads and getting the 2, but not sure when.

The weight reduction is noticeable to me.
