Birds are immune to the effect of capsaicin - the chemical that makes chili peppers hot.
The peppers evolved to be eaten by birds, because the birds have very quick metabolism and by eating peppers they would spread the un-digested seeds in their droppings. The mammals have better digestive system and the seeds do not survive the passage. |

In March 2007, the term "wiki" was accepted by the Oxford English Dictionary. It's Hawaiian for "fast".

The Carolina Reaper is the hottest pepper in the world, and is more than twice as hot as the next hottest peppers.

I was typing an entry earlier and was kicked out for some reason... my ISP or this keyboard. *shaking head*
One more piece(s) of trivia concerning sugar addiction: Since 1999, consumption of sugar has dropped slightly and in 2010 the average American consumed 132 pounds (to put that into perspective, consider that the number was just 4 pounds in the year 1700). Are y'all tired of me posting about sugar? If anyone is, let me know... It is the Holiday Season afterall. |

Yes, I am... sweety pie! lol Oh, I have to add another piece of trivia... about sugar! *evil laugh* "At least half of the sugar we consume comes from soft drinks, fruit drinks, and sports drinks[;] the rest sneaks into our diets in the form of ketchup, teriyaki sauce, chocolate milk and the obvious sweets like cookies, cakes, ice cream and even breakfast cereal." Sugar also formed part of the reason for the slave trade back in the 1700's and led to the birth of one of the big insurance companies. Lloyd's of London (started in a coffee house) insured ships that took African slaves to colonies in the America's to work sugar cane fields. Then at least some of the sugar was traded for tobacco and cotton which was used to pay for the purchase of more slaves, etc.
