Since you got the play store to work - there is free navigation software that works offline. Navfree springs to mind. Does not need to be online to work - you just need to download the map data beforehand. I believe for the US it is split up by each state.

YW. I have used it on a out of state trip, and works really well. Of course not as acurate as Google's map and nav, but then it works without needing cell data. Just be patient with the downloads - they are a bit slow. It helps to plan ahead - sometimes you will need to know the intersection where you are headed. Otoh, you cannot beat free and offline.

Which doesn't necessarily mean anything. I've ordered stuff in the past that was supposed to take several weeks to ship and received it much sooner.

Where did you find directions for doing the install without rooting? All the directions I can find require rooting first.

Yes, I use evozi.com quite frequently. But I think to actually get the apps to work with Fire it is necessary to download some additional files and modify a few settings.

My Volt is here. It's very nice, but I haven't used it, waiting on my case. It's all set up and ready to go.

The odd thing is, the storage looks like it's 4gb, but supposedly it's 8gb. I can't imagine the OS takes 4gb, but maybe it does. I'd like to know what yours says, when you get it.
