Still no joy

I am but a novice who bought an iPad Air 2 today and am bitterly regretting it since now my MacBook will not "see" it so I cannot sync Calibre and Marvin. I did just download the Calibre 2.12 update. Still no joy.

@ljrkrispes, I and Mr. Goodbar posted temporary updates to the plugin that should work -- see a few posts back. https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...&postcount=342 Last edited by eschwartz; 11-30-2014 at 12:31 PM. |

Yeah. This: File "site-packages/calibre/devices/idevice/libimobiledevice.py", line 443, in load_library is loading libimobiledevice not libplist, so if it was going to error out with the old source, it would've complained about that. Last edited by eschwartz; 11-30-2014 at 09:49 PM. |

Thanks to Mr Goodbar and eschwartz for this posting. I have now downloaded the plug in addons--do I just drag them into Calibre? How do I get them working for me? yes, I am a moron..

Instead of clicking Get new plugins, use Load plugin from file, and select the .zip you downloaded..

Make sure you follow the directions for installation at the start of the thread as well, but again you'll be installing from a file. If you already installed a previous version I would recommend uninstalling that first, restarting, installing the new one and then restarting again.

It shouldn't be necessary to uninstall, just like the plugin updater it will simply upgrade.

Try to refrain from contradicting what others suggest, unless it is patently wrong. BR

I was not trying to attack anyone, and I am unsure why you have taken offense. P.S. Perhaps I do indeed feel it is patently wrong and was being polite. Overcaution cannot really hurt, but sometimes doesn't really help either; no need to make a fuss. for your helpful contribution to this discussion.

whatever - must try remember in eschwartz's world 'try to refrain [yourself]' is regarded as an 'attack' - must be a cultural thing. Added : IMO given recent track record of this PI an abundance of caution is appropriate, but I don't use the PI either, so what would I know - no more than other non-users I venture. TO eschwartz and Mr. Goodbar....I have just finished loading my 1330 books onto my new iPad Air 2. Thanks for leading me in small steps to this success. I am soon going to RV full time and am trying to move all of my books to the iPad since my husband refuses to let me fill the underneath of the RV with boxes of books...

Generally I agree, but there have been instances on the Mac where some files did not get updated correctly during an upgrade. I've had this happen to me personally in the past, thus my recommendation to delete and start from scratch.

Do you mean, the old Qt4 files? Those need to be removed by hand no matter what?
