Release v1.14.N of the JB, which should allow a semi-automatic recovery after a factory reset (you'll just need to restore the proper backups to the userstore and reboot once or twice).
And also USBNet 0.18.N, which I forgot the last time, which should ensure compatibility with FW 5.6.1 (in particular regarding the ;un command). Last edited by NiLuJe; 11-29-2014 at 07:19 PM. |

If I may say, you should update the first post with _update_ as opposed to _install_ instructions.
Something along the line "just put the update_bridgexxxx.bin file in kindle root directory and update it". |

After updating to new jb, there are rp and mkk folders on the device. Do I need them, or can i delete them?

@juan_carlos: Short answer: indirectly, yes.
Long answer: in and of itself, no, but if you keep them safe in a backup somewhere, and put them back after a factory reset, it'll automagically restore everything on the next boot. So you 'need' them, but in a kind of theoretical fashion, and only in very specific circumstances, circumstances which imply human interaction. TL;DR: For less than a MB of space occupied, if they're here, assume it's for a good reason, and don't touch them ![]() Last edited by NiLuJe; 11-29-2014 at 04:50 PM. |

Just saw you updated the jailbreak and figured "why not?" and installed it via the MR Installer. Great work! That is one slick idea; very easy and even I couldn't mess that up.
Thanks for all your work in keeping up with the evil empire. |

Should I correctly understand that the JB release v1.14.N includes now not only the JB itself and MKK, but as well RP and CRP, and that RP and CRP no longer need to be applied separately (as with MKK)?

@hfpop: Nope. It only bundles MKK. It will *bridge* the RP/CRP, but if, and only if, you have it installed.

@NiLuJe: this means that, on a fresh system, we will have two rounds for JB, one as the original run, then RP and CRP, then the second JB round, to bridge RP and CRP. Right?

You shouldn't have to reinstall the JB.
Just JB and install RP/CRP and it will be bridged from the first JB. |

But the contents of the folder /mnt/us/rp is updated only by JB. Meaning that if RP and CRP are not already installed at the time of JB, there should be nothing in the /mnt/us/rp.

@hfpop: Hence the RP & CRP found in my snapshots thread, which will populate the backup folders appropriately (well, I kind of forgot the bit introduced in 1.14.N, actually, thanks for reminding me ;p).
[That said, the backup is trivial and can be done manually. It has to be restored manually anyway, no matter how you proceed]. Regardless, the backing up part will be fixed in the next snapshots ![]() But you got it right, on fresh systems, using the RP & CRP from my snapshots thread saves you a roundtrip ![]() EDIT: Snapshots updated ![]() Last edited by NiLuJe; 11-30-2014 at 11:56 AM. |
