From the publishers/resellers, probably with an up-front fee and a cut of every sale/resale. Just like Adobe's ADE DRM.

I'd be more interested in being able to give my books to family members when I was done with them. My guess is that this will involve you selling them back to Sony, for a small amount of money, and the cost will be added onto the initial cost of the book and won't really be of much use.

Amazon already allow you to share books between a number of different accounts to permit exactly this.

It's still intended for sharing books among family members - not with arbitrary people - but do a Google search for "Kindle Family Library". It was introduced in a recent firmware update. You did say "family members" in your earlier post.

Yes, that's the difference with the new Kindle Family Library. It allows several different Amazon accounts to share books, as opposed to sharing books by registering more than one Kindle to the same Amazon account.

I guess though, that if, as your username suggests, you're a nook user, it may not be of much relevance to you.
