Also: By editing the file .kobo/Kobo/Kobo eReader.conf on your device and changing (adding this section if not present) the FeatureSettings section:
[FeatureSettings] FullScreenReading=true After this a new menu entry in the Reading page of the Settings is available, called Page layout, where one can show/hide the header/footer. doesn't work on her device.. so strange things, when restarting the device shows very fast bol.com before the main menu is there, when in sleepmodus, the word sleepmodus is replaced by the txt BOL.COM (as showed on my picture) and the patch I refer to on the Kobo eReader.conf does not work.. |

I know this information is posted someplace on MR, but the problem is a lot of useful H2O information is spread about. I think it would be useful to collect it and put it in one thread. But for now, what is the way to register an H2O without having to actually register it?

The Kobo reader registration is totally separate from the ADE registration.

The Kobo registration is separate from the ADE registration. OTOH, if you want to read ADOBE DRMed ebooks, you will need the ADE registration. If you only use DRM free ebooks, you don't need to use up an ADE registration. If you do register with Adobe, save the activation.xml file from the .adobe-digital-editions directory. That way, if you do a reset, you can just copy that file back and save having to bother Adobe for more registrations.

However if I wanted I could sync the Glo with Desktop and download kepubs, or use wifi on the Glo and download kepubs but I don't. So, those options are still open if I chose. |

OBOK, included in Alf's compilation, could be used there although I have no experience with it. Till now, I've never bought a kepub-only book, so I always download the epub flavour. But just in case, I've stopped buying in the Kobo bookstore because of this risk... (Kobo, are you learning something by this comment?) |

No, I didn't. So it seems Kobo has finally learnt something... It would be great if they did the same with the plethora of small (and not so small) issues the eReader software has.... (Although I actually fear that, as they don't really have much competition but Amazon, and as they don't directly lose sales, they are going to be much worse students...)

IMHO, there are no (known) real benefits for end-users to use any affiliate parter. The only exception could be the roll out of new firmware to some affilitate partner devices first. But is it a benefit, knowing the combination Kobo, firmware (and/or software) is not so… great? I'm gonna change it back to Kobo (or BestBuyCa, if I want to load new firmware automatically instead of doing this manually or waiting until it becomes available for my unit. The full screen mode is also present after a reboot. Are you sure that the files you have modified are saved as "Unix" EOL format and "UTF8 w/o bom"? On Windows you should use a program as Notepad++. Do not use Microsoft applications such as Notepad (Kladblok) or WordPad. Notepad++ Your edited files are probably saved in "Windows format" and/or as "ANSI" (can be found in the status bar, bottom right). To correct this. Execute the actions below 1. Change format from ""Windows" to "UNIX". Menu item: Edit (Bewerken) > EOL conversion (Formaat) > Convert to Unix Format (Unix-indeling). 2. Change ANSI to UTF8 w/o bom. Menu item: Encoding (Codering) > Convert to UTF-8 w/o BOM (Naar UTF-8 zonder BOM converteren) 3. save the files and reboot your device. |

![]() ![]() Just for sure to remember later, I rebooted the device by the paperclip hole.. that would be the right way to see the changes made in the .conf file ?? |
