Positioning TOC panel

Somehow I managed to make the TOC window move from its position at the right edge of the document/code view panel. It now sits above the Book Browser and Code/Document panels (full screen width) and refuses to go back to its place at the right edge. Have tried every mode of movement I can think of without success.

Hoping this is something somebody else found and solved.

Did you try double-clicking the title bar of the TOC window?

To redock, the double-click on the titlebar usually works.

You can also stack the windows (one above the other). Just drag over there until a 'space' opens up and drop it.

You can Overlay (creates a TAB for each). This is a bit tricky to get working. Rpeat tries might be needed.

start with the previous (stack). Now drag one of the windows to the exact vertical center of the other, and Drop

If all else fails, simply delete sigil.ini. However, you'll lose all custom Sigil settings (for example, keyboard shortcuts).

(Select Edit > Preferences >Open Preferences Location)

Yes. Double-click on the TOC title bar allows me to drag it anywhere and park it anywhere in the document view window -- except near the document view title bar, then it jumps back to being stacked on top of the other panels.

Somehow the TOC panel moved from the right edge of the document view panel to being stacked above the document view panel -- I do not what I did to cause that.

Tried double-click on the TOC title bar -- that allows me to drag it anywhere and park it anywhere in the document view window -- except near the document view title bar, then it jumps back to being stacked on top of the other panels.

Have tried soooo many times to drag the TOC panel to every possible spot on the document view title bar but as soon as let up on the control key it jumps to the stacked position.

I didn't want to think about the ini file. But thanks for forcing me to think about it -- I guess going through the configuration is better than living with it as is. Problem is that I have been using Sigil for so long that it fits like an old glove. But I have not been successful with any of the other possible solutions.

Sigh --- if only calibre would add a WYSIWYG optiion

What about editing sigil.ini instead of deleting it? Is that possible? Do you know which entry controls the placement of the TOC panel? Maybe someone could let me compare a sigil.ini file for a configuration that has the toc panel on the right.

If it is "Stacked", it is already docked.
Drag it to the New area (you will see a space open up), and drop it.
Note: if you want it on the Right, you will need to go almost past the right edge The Top-Left corner is the Docked reference point)

Even it it did, and it won't, you'd then be looking at a json file rather than an ini file - in this context the differences are moot. And the docking in the calibre editor is the same as in Sigil - of account of them both using the Qt5 UI library.

Ok - I got it on the right edge. No space would open up to park when I would drag it. What finally worked for me was to minimize Sigil and then drag the TOC panel off the Sigil window to the right. Thanks for your help.

Lightbulb

Toolbars (there are more than just 1 up there) can be docked on any of the edges, floated or hidden.
