As far as prices, they seem about the same as everyone else. I did notice some Librivox free titles in there.
I can't speak for all their books, but Ender's Game is MP3. The files are stored in Android/data/com.bn.nook.audio in the user media storage, so no root required.

Update: They must be encrypted MP3 as I can't get them to play in another player even though they have an mp3 extension.

List of Amazon Ebooks + Whispersync Companions that = Cheap

We're all aware of the B4G10 Audible promotion going on right now. Right? But, have you gotten all four of the Audible audiobooks yet?

If not, maybe the list that I have below will be of some benefit. Even if you've gotten all four audiobooks that you need for the promotion, you might find something that you would be interested in anyway.

I'm giving a list of some $14.95 or higher (regular price (a stipulation in the promotion rules)) Audible audiobooks that you can acquire very inexpensively. It's done by pairing cheap, or even free, Amazon ebooks with their Whispersync companions, which are also inexpensive. Even though you might have to buy an ebook, you'll still pay a lot less for the audiobook because the total price for the ebook plus the Whispersync audiobook ends up being much cheaper than if you buy the audiobook outright.

The ebooks fall into several different genres. However, all of the genres are non-fiction (except for some classics, fairy tales, etc.). Why? Because I started out doing this little exercise for my own benefit, and I don't "do" fiction. The ebooks are in no particular order, but are listed as I came across them.

This is an experiment. If there is favorable feedback to this post, I may try to dig up some similar deals before the promotion ends on Nov. 27.

All of the ebooks below should have a Whispersync that is regularly-priced $14.95, but please double-check before clicking on the "buy" button for the audiobook (I'm not sure that they are returnable like Amazon ebooks are, but I may be wrong. Anyway, it's just a good idea).

And, I apologize, but I didn't take the time to look up the URL's for the ebooks. But they should be easy enough to do a search for.

The price that I give at the end is the total (ebook + Whispersync) price.

Okay, here we go.

The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin. Benjamin Franklin. $2.99.
Fundamental Principles of the Metaphysic of Morals. Immanuel Kant. $2.99.
The Humbugs of the World. P.T Barnum. $1.99.
Meditations (Dover ed.). Marcus Aurelius. $3.94.
Humble Heroes, How The USS Nashville CL43 Fought WWII. Steven Bustin. $2.98.
The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin (Dover ed.). Benjamin Franklin $3.98.
Fairy Tales Every Child Should Know. Hamilton Wright Mabie. $0.99.
Saint Augustine of Hippo: The City of God. $3.98. (the audio is nearly 48 hours long).
The Everlasting Man. G.K. Chesterton. $4.48.
The Articles of Faith [Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints]. James E. Talmage. $2.98.
Confessions of Saint Augustine (Optimized for Kindle). St. Augustine. $3.98.
Book: The Histories/Audio: The Complete Works of Tacitus: Volume 3: The History [Unabridged]. Tacitus. $3.98. (I noticed that it has good narration).
Personal Memoirs of Ulysses S. Grant [Unabridged]. Ulysses S. Grant. $3.98.
English Fairy Tales. Joseph Jacobs. $2.99.
The Phantom of the Opera. Gaston Leroux. $0.99.
Beowulf: The New Translation. Gerald J. Davis. $2.98.

Here's one that is not as inexpensive as any of the ones above, but I thought that I would throw it in for good measure:
Flapper: A Madcap Story of Sex, Style, Celebrity, and the Women Who Made America Modern. Joshua Zeitz. $6.48. http://www.amazon.com/Flapper-Madcap...America+Modern.

This freebie (assuming it's still free) apparently counts toward Buy 4 Get $10, as Audible sent me an email this morning reminding me to buy 3 more before Thanksgiving.

Interesting... Hopefully I'll get it. I got Blood of Amber with my credit (after rejoining with the TravelZoo deal), King Solomon's Mines, the short listed above (which I wasn't expecting to count), Fairy Tales Every Child Should Know, and Phantom of the Opera from the previous post. If the short counts, that should be 5 for only about $4.

Update: checked and I had a similar email from 2am telling me I needed one more. I picked up 2, so I should be good.

I hope y'all are right. I just checked and this title is listed "Regular Price: $0.00." keep your e-mails - you might end up in a bit of a fight with CS. I thought I had my 4, then when I went to check one of my titles had been reduced in regular price to $13.99. I picked up another title just in case, and I did a screen shot of all of the "Regular Price" listings. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

Are you sure it wasn't for a different book? To qualify, a book must have a regular price of $14.95 or more. This book lists the regular price as $0.00.

That's the only book I've "bought" since rejoining Audible with the TravelZoo deal. But it probably is too good to be true.

Is it also the only book you got from Audible since 01 Nov?

Downpour -- Weekend Spotlight -- exp 23 Nov

Quote:
Thanksgiving is just days away, so why not delve into some early American history! This weekend only save up to 60% on four great histories of the early struggles and the genesis of the United States!
Quote:
Between Two Worlds: How the English Became Americans

Over 350,000 intrepid English men, women, and children migrated to America in the seventeenth century, leaving behind their homeland for an uncertain future on distant shores. Whether they settled in Jamestown, Salem, or Barbados, these early English migrants—entrepreneurs, soldiers, and pilgrims alike—sought to re-create their old country in the new land.
Quote:
Desperate Sons: Samuel Adams, Patrick Henry, John Hancock, et al

This groundbreaking narrative is a historical political thriller that explores the role of the Sons of Liberty in the American Revolution.

More than two hundred years ago, a group of British colonists in America decided that the conditions under which they were governed had become intolerable. Angry and frustrated that King George III and the British Parliament had ignored their lawful complaints and petitions, they decided to take action.
Quote:
Savage Kingdom: The True Story of Jamestown

Four centuries ago, and fourteen years before the Mayflower, a group of men— led by a one-armed ex-pirate, an epileptic aristocrat, a reprobate cleric, and a government spy—left London aboard a fleet of three ships to start a new life in America. They arrived in Virginia in the spring of 1607 and set about trying to create a settlement on a tiny island in the James River. Despite their shortcomings, and against the odds, they built Jamestown, a ramshackle outpost that laid the foundations of the British Empire and the United States of America.
Quote:
Making Haste from Babylon: The Mayflower Pilgrims and Their World

At the end of 1618, a blazing green star soared across the night sky over the northern hemisphere. From the Philippines to the Arctic, the comet became a sensation and a symbol, a warning of doom or a promise of salvation. Two years later, as the Pilgrims prepared to sail across the Atlantic on board the Mayflower, the atmosphere remained charged with fear and expectation. Men and women readied themselves for war, pestilence, or divine retribution. Against this background, and amid deep economic depression, the Pilgrims conceived their enterprise of exile.

Audible is having a 3 for 2 sale.

The really good news is that these books will count toward the buy 4 get $10.

Quote:
Simply click each tab below to browse the sale by author. Then select any three books you'd like, and purchase them for just two credits. The special shopping cart in our 3 for 2 store allows a maximum of three books to be purchased at a time. If you have additional credits and want to buy even more books, you can keep coming back to this page to take advantage of the sale until November 23 at 11:59 PM (ET). All three books will count towards your Listening Reward.
