You'd be amazed how long it took me to find a book nearby that had five sentences on page 56. I've got a lot of manga and art books piled up by my computer.

which is in the English original:

"Before Chronicler could raise his piece of firewood, the thing skirted sideways around the bonfire and sprang at him, quick as a cricket."

It´s a fantasy book, first published in 2007. It´s part one of a trilogy (part 2 and 3 not published yet).

The author has won the Publishers Weekly Award for the best fantasy book.

Any fantasy fans around who can guess?

Actually all jesting aside it was from "The Ultimate Encyclopedia of Knots and Ropework". A book that has come in mighty handy over the years in spite of its questionably over confident title.

Without elaborating on the background story- Last year I managed to tie a Christmas tree to the top of a friends jeeps so securely that when we arrived at our destination it took three fellows with knives a half hour to free it.

Meanwhile I was smugly inside drinking hot coco. Ah, the holidays.
