Since we're on the subject, another pain is having websites that you've logged into to log you out after an unreasonably short time. I can't tell you how many times I've logged in to certain ebook vendors' websites, gotten distracted for a few minutes, and then when I go back to the websites to resume what I was doing, they have logged me out and have to sign in again. Sometimes this happens multiple times. Arrghhh!

I hear ya. Verizon does that to me all the time.

I have a BN account. But I don't have to sign in to the BN web site to just browse, and I shouldn't have to sign in to browse the app. If I wanted to get the freebies, or buy something, fine, I'll sign in, but to just to look? No. Ain't doin' it.

How are the prices and the selection?

No idea. I never bought anything from them. I signed on because they were giving away some well formatted classics and I still hadn't made my mind up on whether I was going Nook or Kindle. Anyway, that was several years ago and I rarely visit them anymore.

I briefly looked around on my PC, but only to see how large their collection was. Couldn't find that info, so I quit. Never checked prices or content.

I did too, but my first several attempts to sign in kept saying I wasn't connected to the Internet, then eventually it just tried to sign in forever... I exited the app and came back in and was already signed in. I added my credit card and still don't see the offer for the free books. From looking at the comments on Google Play, I'm not alone in any of these issues. B&N is having some major issues with this...

Update: after posting, I relaunched the app and the banner ad showed the offer for the free books, so I just redeemed them. Ender's Game and Charlotte's Web.

As far as prices, they seem about the same as everyone else. I did notice some Librivox free titles in there.

I installed this for my wife last night. I was never able to get the banner to show up, even after putting in the CC info. Finally I just searched for the titles. The did come up free and was able to claim the offer, but OMG, they made it difficult.

What a hassle you guys went through. I guess I was lucky. It was so super simple for me. I logged in, grabbed the freebies, and logged out.

Similar experience here, but I gave up and waited until this morning. Now the banner comes up.

Yeah, I think they were having major issues last night. I got the notification last night from my nook app. The servers probably got overloaded.

Normally I don't post the really short Audible freebies (<30 minutes), but this one gives me special motivation. "The Squickerwonkers" by Evangeline Lilly is free here for I don't know how long. The book is narrated by Sylvester McCoy - fans of the classic Dr. Who will recognize the name. If not, you may know him as Radagast "The Green" from the Hobbit movie trilogy.
