@kaznelson: To be clear, that's for people who either want to update manually from diags, or can somehow boot to diags (which won't be the case after an official update, even if you had the rescue pack installed, since the official update will have wiped the trigger startup script [unless you have serial access]).

![]() I already was updated to 5.6.1 (edited rootfs.img) through RP, and also through RP rolled back on 5.4.5.1... If KUAL works, it's possible to try to copy RP-script in a folder /etc/upstart/ and start RP?.. |

@kaznelson: That's what I got, just wanted to make sure
![]() As for your query, on previous firmwares, sure, on FW 5.6.1, nope, because KUAL doesn't run as root ;/. |

It would take, well, su, which (privilege escalation exploits excluded) implies being root at one point to set up properly, which is what I'll be working on when I have some more time.
That, or a few other ideas I have floating around. Some of them already shot down, others not yet tried. |

This whole framework switch makes me think there really should have been an emergency way of running commands baked into the jailbreak. Maybe /var/local/system/fixup should also source /mnt/us/startup.sh or something.

That would have to go in the bridge, but we don't really have an easy way to check if the user already has the RP/CWRP installed, so it's a bit tricky to decide wether or not something should be restored, and I'm a bit wary of unilaterally adding upstart jobs that early in the boot process. (A workaround would be for the RP/CWRP to ship with a modified bridge).

I still have a PW1 I occasionally use and wonder if this update will be available for it. I really like the improved XRay on the Fire HD6. I've accidentally realized plot spoilers using the previous version of XRay and find using the Notable Clips feature keeps me spoiler-free.
If this update doesn't come to the PW1, I can almost justify a PW2 purchase since I "saved" $$ after cancelling my Voyage Pre-order (I don't think hubby would understand my logic. LOL) |

@copyrite: Not the same hardware platform, and they've shown increased cohesion on that front with FW 5.6.1, so I'd say it's unlikely, at least for the moment.
Of course, that's by nature a comment almost as reliable as a magic eight ball, so, take that with a grain of salt ![]() |

Nope can't write (much) to /var/local either as framework (and definitely can't update the bridge, I checked
