You can always hold onto it in the hope that a jailbreak is soon discovered. Or that it "breaks" under warranty and you can try again.

Regarding metadata plugboards for calibre:

Code:
{title}{series_index:| [|] }{series}

I was think of waiting a bit to see if anyone does manage to jailbreak this firmware. If not, that means a lot of people refusing to update their firmware ever again, and I can't see our wonderful members allowing that to happen .

The metadata plugboard was the easiest thing. I was playing around with emailing a book to the PW and it seems you can't email an .azw3 format, only .mobi. Yet you can drop an .azw3 book into the documents file and that will work. That just makes no sense to me.

If you have a book in your Calibre library in .epub and .mobi only, is there a way to tell Calibre to automatically convert to .azw3 format to send to the Kindle instead of just sending the .mobi format? Or do I have to first convert to .azw3 and then send it to the reader? From the few books I've been experimenting with converting and sending to the PW, the .azw3 format usually looks the best.

You must reconvert.

Search:
Code:
not formats:"=AZW3"
Or just delete all MOBI formats (if they were all originally EPUBs)

Remove Books ==> Remove files of a specific format from selected books

You can do a bulk convert of all your books to AZW3 in Calibre. That's what I did after I got my PW2. I just set the options that I wanted for my AZW3 files and set it bulk convert. It took a while, but I just let it run until all the books had converted. If I remember correctly, there were a couple books that gave me errors and didn't convert, but all the others converted flawlessly.

Go into the Kindle driver settings in Calibre and remove Mobi from the list of acceptable formats, leaving only AZW3.

I didn't want to have duplicates of every book in both epub and azw3 if it could be avoided. I think HarryT's suggestion will do the trick so it will convert as I send a book to the reader.

Thanks!

I am in the peculiar habit of offering plugboards based on the OP's stated desire. Not what I personally use.

Edit: Also, EEK!!! Where is the title?!?!

Actually, this is what I use on my Sony 350s and Kobo Glos:
Code:
{title} {series_index:|[|]} {series}
But on the Kindle because there's no way I'll ever manually add Colllections I use:
Code:
{series} {series_index:0>2s|[|]} {title}

I use pretty much the same:

Code:
{series:|| }{series_index:0>2s|| - }{title}
Which produces, for example:

Miss Marple 01 - The Body in the Library

The code I used adds the series info to the authors line. The title is above. That way the title line doesn't get cut off. Some series names are very long.

I'm guessing there is no way to turn off justification. I just started my 30 day trial and this is really bugging me. Would I need to wait for a jailbreak?

Whether a book is fully justified or left justified is determined by the formatting of the book itself. The Kindle certainly doesn't force full justification.
