Koreader should work fine in the Mini. If it doesn't, that's a bug. Will check later....
What version is this?

@ebri: same question: what version?

I guess I begin to "understand" Koreader
A click in the header opens the menu. Works, even in landscape mode.
At the bottom of the screen there is no menu but just a "progress bar/indicator", right?

A new question arises though:
when reading a book with the default kobo-FW I can see the page number s of the paper-book. Can these be shown in Koreader too?

You can also use "Set defaults", in the File Manager menus to set the "DMINIBAR_" features to be displayed in the Mini progress bar.

hawhill: Sorry, it was there from 8xx up to the 10xx versions, I thought my device is defective, but due to high power consumption of the 9xx versions I used nickel, and this area worked well, so I think it is rather related to koreader. Where I checked now was 1094.

kobo touch fw 3.11.0 koreader freeze if stay on a page longer to about 1 minutes

I tried stable ver 2014-04 and latest version 2014-04-1094. They all have the same issue-----freeze if reading a page for a longer time, can't even be longer than 1 minutes (between 30 sec to 45 sec). Hold power button 20 seconds, then release, then hold it again for 2-3 second, it solve the freezing and get into Nickle.

Latest kobo firmware 3.11.0

Koreader for Android

Version 2014.04-1118 is the first that runs on my Nexus S Kit-Kat 4.4.4 (CyanogenMod).

Seems usable but there is one question.
Where should I copy the dict, tessdata folders and the defaults.persistent.lua file?

I tried '\Android\data\org.koreader.launcher', '\Android\data\org.koreader.launcher\files', '\Android\obb\org.koreader.launcher' and '\data\data\org.koreader.launcher\files'with no Luck.

@Ebri: There had been a bug that led to problems with touch at the sides of the display, but it should have been fixed. Can you report an issue on Github if the latest version still shows the bug? Did you try a clean reinstall (maybe temporary rename your koreader folder and copy from a current release)? A reboot, perhaps?

@zhangsong88: As reported on github, such behaviour is often not directly related to Koreader. I'm not sure what to do about it.

@embryo: hm, not sure about that. However, I think dictionary might not work yet on Android? But I'm not sure about that either.

If you launch from Kobo's Nickel UI, or even have had it running before launching Koreader, you should probably check to see if nickel has it's auto/timed shutoff active.

Than you Hawhill, first I wanted to be sure that it is not just on my Aura HD before posting it to GitHub. I will check the latest nightly during weekend, and clear+recopy it.

It's seems it's not koread and Start menu issue. I copied many files (4000+) to the SD in Nickel and Nickel didn't properly returned from processing, the problem showed up again. After I deleted the 4000+ books and keep one 400 books. Everything is fine. I checked before when the Koreader freezes, Nickel didn't.
Anyway, 400 books is enough and good to go to me.

You can avoid the nickel processing, if you put your ebook files and folders inside a "hidden" folder that has a name that begins with a dot/period like .books I have ~7000 books on my external uSD card that I read with Koreader or Coolreader , that are not processed by nickel.

Luck;

On my Aura I found another way to hide my books from Nickel, although this is rather a bad way.
But very simple. I got a 64GB SD card and formatted it to FAT32 (I am not sure that really was necessary, but I did).
KSM/Koreader have no problem with that card and all of its 64GB.
Nickel says I should format it to FAT32 if I want to use it...

Newbie question.
I have searched but cannot find the answer to this:
Why use Koreader? It seems to read mostly the same file types as the native Kobo software, what are the advantages?
I realize it must have a lot of pros for so many people to use it, I was just wondering what they were.
Thanks in advance!
