↑Guess plans changed as Skin Game came before first Cinder Spires book. Hopefully Peace Talks really is next - and hopefully before Christmas. (2015 that is, don't think a month will do).

So, Cinder Spires will probably be released early March as it usually takes 3 months to get it polished and published. If we want Peace Talks at Christmas 2015, it means that Jim has to finish it early September. That would give him about 6-9 months. That will be hard, he takes more time writing nowadays (as he should).
I would love a release of PT in 2015, but somehow I doubt it. It depends how much of the story he already has outlined I guess. |

Why should he be allowed to take his time? He got more ideas that he wants to write than he can do in his life. I doubt the fame gotten to his head already. And Jim's name is not George R. R. Martin. The one reason I could see that he drags his feet is by squeezing and starting as much other books / series inbetween Dresden books. The main story line is all done, all he has to do is fill in the details. According to him that goes relatively easy for him.

Personally, I rather he take his time and continue writing a good story, then rush through and end up delivering crap!
Its also a good idea for him to take a break from the series so that he doesn't burn out and/or get stale. Writing something else should help him improve those skills that need it, keep strong his existing writing assets, take a breath and reset. |

Personally, I don't mind if the book takes a while to finish. Not everyone can be as prolific as Brandon Sanderson...

Oh nice, thanks for digging that up, Alan. I remember reading about it a long time ago somewhere buried in this thread. It is interesting how Jim writes and how much he likes sarcasm when retelling real life stories. Dresden Files has the strange effect of being absolutely believeable. There is other books that go a little bit overboard with trying to explain everything that is different than our own world - especially when it comes to explaining futuristic gadgets in SF books. The way Harry is telling us the story, there is nothing that needs explained because we don't grasp the technology yet. It needs explained because while it already exists and some magic much longer than ever, we are simply unaware of it. I guess that is a feature of urban fantasy. It has to be in a real setting without a completely strange world that is all made up. You know right away that middle earth doesn't exist, not even a long time ago. As compared to the made up fantasy elements mixed in with the real world in the Dresden-verse. Makes you wonder ...
