I am still having serious issues with Scribd audio books. It seems if you get out of the app while it's playing to do anything else on the device, you get pushed back to the beginning. I'm trying to get back to chapter nine, and still waiting. This is very frustrating, and will not be worth paying for, if I can't get it straightened out. I did submit a ticket.

I've put a hold on this book at a library. I finally got to chapter nine, but this is ridiculous.

They have alot of kinks to work out. They should have never released the audiobooks on the app yet.

I have not experienced this on my Nexus 7. It did occur once, but that was when Android updated and the Nexus rebooted. Otherwise, I haven't really had any playback issues with the app.

One thing I don't like about the app is that it doesn't let you know how much time is remaining in the book. Unless it's hiding somewhere and I haven't found it yet.

I started the free 3 month trial a couple of days ago. So far, I'm not overly thrilled. I've had the player crash on my Samsung S3 phone three times in the first book. It also would occasionally lose it's place.

As far as ebooks go, I had the first 3 month trial towards the beginning of the year. The main problem then was having to read on my Samsung tablet. I don't like reading for long periods of time on a backlit screen. I prefer my PW.

I am going to keep using it for the 3 months but at this point, will cancel my account at the end of the time. If they improve the player a lot and get a lot more books, I will reconsider my current opinion.

I'm getting a Kindle Fire 6 for a main reader. I love my Nexus 7 I really do but the thought of a smaller tablet to read on thrills me. I can't believe how many books Scribd has. My problem is where do I look first. The audio books is perk but I know they have alot kinks to work out. I have Audible and the library to use till then. For $9 a month you can't beat this.

If you have trouble reading on a tablet you own the wrong tablet. My Nexus 7 is a joy to read on. It puts eInk to shame unless it sunlight then eInk wins.
I gave up on eInk after I got my N7 last year my kindles are collecting dust. I keep my PW only as a backup. I can't read on it for long periods of time as it gives me eye strain but I can read on my N7 for hours without any issues.

Not all tablets are equal. They can boast of all type of high specs but if you are going to use a tablet for reading you need to look at PPI of the tablet, the higher the better, Viewing Angle of the tablet (This is most important) and how much effort went into text rendering. I've seen too many pricey tablets skimp on text rendering and have an amazing screen for everything else. Also turn that light way down when reading. The dimmer the better on your eyes and If your tablet doesn't go dim enough get Screen Dim app which will allow you to go as dark as you want and it has presets you can switch back and forth. I have my tablet set that it looks like I am reading on fancy paper you can't tell it's backlit at all.

The Scribd support person was not able to reproduce my problem. She suggested I re-download the book and try again. I did that. Same thing. It stops at the end of every chapter. As long as I don't use the phone to do anything else, I don't lose my place.

I actually listened to the entire book yesterday. I love the narrator, Abby Cradon. So I went to look at the rest of the series, and every darn one of them has a different narrator! Huh?? How disappointing. I downloaded book 3 (Be Still My Vampire Heart) but I don't know when I'll try it out. I've got a different library book to listen to.

So anyway, I have to compare the books in my Scribd audio wish list with library offerings. If the library has it, I might as well get it from them.

Abby Cradon is awesome! I love her voice acting and I hate when a series has different narrators if the character's are the same in each book I want to have the same voice in each book. What's worse is when they switch from having a female narrator to a male narrator. The only time I will listen to a male narrator is when he is teamed up with a female or the book is non romance and from a guy's perspective like Harry Potter. When I read a romance 99% of the time it's from a female's view so a guy reading it is just too weird for me not to mention the voice in my head as I read along is female.

OMG you are SO right. I listened to all the Harry Potter and Percy Jackson books, done by males, and they were AWESOME. I decided to try out a Maya Banks audio book, Keep Me Safe or something like that, and it was a MAN! DELETE. WTH???? WHY??

I think Abby Cradon did a Linda Howard book, she is SO good. She makes any book good, I think!

She did Hell on Wheels which was a 5 star for me but I think it's only on Audible or through Tantor. Black Knights Inc is the series and I think she does 2 of them.

We are use to hearing Romance from female perspective. If a guy reads it, it's like he is reading about her not her reading to us. If that makes sense. We want to get into heroine's head and live there for awhile. authors seem to think male voices work better because of the whole sexy voice issue but they don't when it comes to romance because it's a female that is the lead character.

When are you getting your Fire 6? Will you be listening to Scribd Audio books on it as well as reading?

You don't pay for an Audible sub, do you? To me that's so expensive. I won't pay that.

I do the free trial offers and get the free shorts they offer. Never paid more than $2 for an audiobook and less than $20 total in the 3+ years I've been with them.

I gladly pay $3.95 for an audio book. I have no problem with that amount. But no more than that!

Before Thanksgiving. I am waiting on a $25 gift card from Swagbucks before I can order. No case till I get my birthday money. No Audiobooks I will put the old Scribd app on there. The new app will go on my Moto E I am getting for my birthday.

Yes I am a Audible Platinum member. I have been for about three years now. I pay $24 a month for two credits. Audiobooks are expensive. Most good Audiobook costs anywhere from $25 to $40 dollars so 2 credits for $24 to me is a really good deal. I own the entire Stephanie Plum series cept for 5 & 6 which I had to get through ebay.

Oh I see, that makes sense. Maybe soon they'll get a clue and cut out those horrendous margins!

Well if it's worth it to you, that's all that matters. I mostly get mine from libraries, or whispersync titles for $3.99. The Audible books are excellent quality, but I can't afford the membership. We have too much month at the end of the money, as the song goes.

I'm hoping to use the $100 gift certificate I got from Best Buy to go towards the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 on their Black Friday sale. It has 359 ppi, so maybe I'll change my mind about reading on a tablet. It would be nice to not have to carry the PW and the tablet around. I would then be able to get rid of my Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 Plus. I just checked and its ppi is 170. That sounds like it will be a huge difference. I just hope I like the 8.4" screen size for reading. The PW's size has been great for me and this will be bigger.
