I guess I have a good Voyage, yes (one of the few... ?) so it ends up being really just a slight difference in tone as well as a slight difference in resolution. The tone color is not that relevant to me, but I can't stop thinking I like reading on the Voyage better. Maybe I need a brainwash ![]() |

Have you tried playing with the font weights? The font on my H20 looks clearer/better than my Voyage, after customizing. Maybe I got a really bad Voyage. It's all personal preferences, I much prefer reading on the H20, and agree with Josie--I use the H20 at home, the Voyage if I'm going anywhere. As for the screen, mine are like Stingo's--"fluorescent" is a good adjective for my Voyage screen, and I really don't like that look. I turn the light down until I can't see that glow, and it's acceptable, but the background of the Voyage is somewhat gray at lower light levels. The H20, I can have brighter before it starts looking lit, if that makes sense, which I really, really like, and I like the creamy background color, it's really gentle on the eyes, the most "comfortable" ereader I've owned--no eyestrain at all after hours of reading consecutively on the H20.
I have noticed the H20's IR is slightly less responsive than the Voyage, the more I've used them both, but not enough to be bothersome. |

![]() I too find the background of the voyage at low light levels too gray and muddy looking, it gave me a headache. The H20 is by far the best reader I have used all around. I'm just so happy with it. ![]() |

Now guys, a question: Don't you have the impression with 3.11 on H2O that you can't make the fonts just darker, they automatically go bolder ? I'll ask that on the Kobo forum.
My screen is really yellow. But I am slowly getting used to it. Last edited by aceflor; 11-14-2014 at 06:15 AM. |

I think I may have gotten a yellow screen too. I'm not sure if this shade of yellow is common to the H2O although I think I'm getting used to it and it really doesn't bother me that much. Screen is nice and creamy in daylight though. Here's a picture of the H2O next to my blotchy PW1. The PW light has always seemed bluish white to me but funny how putting it next to the yellow H2O makes the light seem pink now (both in pictures and in real life).
One thing I really love is how sharp the text on the H2O appears. I've kept my PW1 as a backup reader but I really can't imagine going back to it now. Last edited by xtine; 11-14-2014 at 01:41 AM. |

I marginally prefer the screen tone of the H2O to that of the Voyage, but overall the Voyage is the winner for me, due to three factors:
1. Portability. The Voyage is much more compact, and I can easily carry it around in my pocket. The H2O is too big to do that. 2. The "haptic" page-turn sensors on the Voyage work beautifully and are a great way to turn the page without having to move your hands. Just apply a small amount of pressure and the page turns. 3. Touchscreen sensitivity. I recently tried reading a book on my H2O which had a lot of endnotes and the experience was rather frustrating. It took multiple attempts to activate the hyperlink leading to an endnote. The Voyage's touchscreen is much more accurate and sensitive. |

Sorry to hijack this thread, Harry. I actually have a PW1 and only meant to compare the light adjustment feature of the Kobo to my existing PW1. If I had a Voyage though, I suppose I would still prefer manual adjustment as I do my other devices with auto brightness (iPads, mobile phones etc).

It's not the way that the notes are displayed that's the problem: it's the difficulty of trying to actually tap the hyperlink on the not-very-accurate IR touchscreen.
