Alternative keyboards, setup in OS 4
Seems like people have started getting the update. Someone's already said they didn't like the keyboard. I am so glad that isn't just me.
![]() ![]() Anyway, thought I'd just post how to use an alternative. You're going to have to side load these or use another market since Amazon doesn't let us use the ones in the store with the Kindle. The main things to note are:
Go to Settings, Language & Keyboard, then Keyboard Language. Whatever keyboards you install, are going to come up as individual "languages". Some of them will have separate ones listed on here, the rest will want you to do it through their app. (BTW, those are normally server side, so it SHOULD be a straightforward download) You put a check next to them, and then go back up to Default Language. Click that, and it'll say English (United States), followed by whatever else you install. You want to click whatever new keyboard you want to use. Now click your back arrow. It'll take you back to Language & Keyboard. If you now click on Keyboard Settings, it's going to take you to the settings page of said new default. So far I've tried SwiftKey, TouchPal, and MyScript's Stylus Beta. Those all work fine. There are probably others, but this post is already too long. ![]() |

Thank you very much for that info! I'm definitely going to switch to a keyboard that has bigger keys.

Switched over to SwiftKey - much better, much larger keys.
I've also got a themed GO Keyboard from my Nooks that I'll give a try, too. |

Love Swiftkey and use it on my devices but Google keyboard is my favorite. I do not like the new KF keyboard someone needs to remake the old one and put it up for download as it was really great to use too.
