B&N removed download option on all books in "My Nook" library - Page 41

That's what I was afraid of. My credit card company replaced my card (new number) because of recent data breaches. I'll continue getting my Asimov's and Analog subscriptions there, because they're DRM-free, but I won't buy a new book until I'm sure I'll be able to read it on my JBL.

You will need NOOK Study for Windows, do a search on the page for that name.

I got the info that was referenced in the comments and followed the instructions to the letter on both my PC and MAC to no avail. The damn book is still locked! >

I got it to work finally. Had to delete the copy I had downloaded from Nook for PC app and re-download it from Nook Study app. All is good now. I hope they stop making it harder for us to actually BUY books instead of steal them. Jeez.

Yesterday. The Posting Guidelines have been revised, and the section on DRM now says:

Ask for help at the place you downloaded the plugin from. There are people there who can help you, but we can't do so here.

Awesome, this will make it easier to give help if we can simply link to the website.

Just curious -- is this a reaction to a change in the law? or did the admin board decide it isn't as risky as previously thought?
(The changed bit if I recollect correctly, is "links" ==> "direct download links"?)

A change of mind by the board owner.

To clarify, you can link to a description, but not to the tools themselves.

Thanks for the clarification.

That is how I read it myself. That you are permitted to link e.g. to the webite http://apprenticealf.wordpress.com which contains further info about the tools, but not provide the actual direct download link from the filesharing site it is hosted on.

It may be that it was felt that now that many other sites have linked to places hosting DRM removal tools, apparently without any problems, the rule here was outdated. That is, if Wired and YouTube and The Digital Reader and many others have such links, why ban them from MobileRead?
