Same page, same book, same font, both at maximum brightness. Left is my PW2 which I can still return to Amazon as I only got it last week, out of its case to make it closer in size to the Voyage. Right is the Voyage. I took this picture in a room with no lights on with the Cannon camera. I've not played with the picture at all, not even to check it size.

Yes it has a yellow top, I can see that as plain as day, but right now its not that bothersome. I really like the smootheness of the glass screen and the page press sensors, and how much brighter and whiter the screen is (even with the yellow top)
I extracted the pixel intensity values from the middle of the PW2 right margin and Voyage left margin. Plots attached with and without 0 at bottom of Y axis.

I do see the two toned screen on your voyage, but then I see it on all of them, so no surprise at all. Of those two screens, if the image is accurate to what you see in person, I have to say that in that photo at that light level, I prefer the screen on your voyage over your PW2.

The voyage I had was very blueish in the dark with the light on low. (And I read in the dark every night.) I really hated it and it made my eyes hurt. The voyage I had looked like one big blueish pink bruise in the dark to me.

How does your voyage look in the dark with the light on a lower level? That is when I found the voyage particularly bothersome to my eyes. If it looks good to you in the lighting that you'll be using it in, I'd personally keep the voyage over your PW2. Especially since the voyage has slightly better contrast and sharpness of fonts.

Good luck with your decision and I hope you feel better soon!

The left of the plot is the bottom of the screen and the right the top. Each red, green, or blue subpixel has an intesity between 0 (full dark) and 255 (full bright). For the address system I was using, image pixels at the bottom have a Y address of 0 and at the top 2447. The screens on the 2 readers have Y (vertical) image addresses of about 500 to 2000.

The plots show the red, blue, and green intensities for a column of pixels located in the margin part of the page from the bottom of the page to the top. So the blue is weaker at top of the Voyage screen and the blue is a bit stronger at both the top and bottom of the PW2 screen.

It happens that in this particular image, the Voyage is brighter than the PW2, so none of the points are mixed and 6 colors for the points are not needed, nor do the plots need to be offset from each other.

Averaging several columns together and averaging along the columns would smooth the plots, but I don't have time for that at the moment.

That was interesting. Thanks.

Josieb - I also couldn't figure it out without an explanation.

I returned my voyage, but it froze a couple more times before I did. Same as you, mainly when performing certain functions. Highlighting, in my case. I found it to be unusual as my kindles in the past rarely froze at all. I'm not sure if an upgrade is coming soon, but hopefully it will be resolved then. You might want to give Amazon a call about it and record the issue with them.

More often than not, freezes are caused by corrupt content. I've been using my Voyage quite a lot over the last few days, and have experienced no freezes. Have you checked to see that it's not indexing?

No freezes here either.
I hate to brag, but compared to so many that I've read about, my Voyage is just about *perfect*. My battery has lasted quite a while too...only charged it once so far since receiving it on Oct. 27 and that includes downloading 1100 books onto it and reading every day.

Could you tell me what light setting you generally read at? I assume that you do not keep the WiFi on all the time, correct?

Thanks.

No, I don't leave with-to on all the time.
My setting is usually about 12-15.

In my case, I only put 3 books on my voyage, just to test it, see the contrast and what not. I knew it wouldn't be keeping it once I saw the screen. I had the same books on my Paperwhite, one that I was in the process of reading. My Paperwhite 2 never froze on me. So just putting that out there. I think a couple others have mentioned having voyage freezes as well.

In the 2 months before getting my Voyage my beloved PW2 froze an average of 3 times each week. Amazon has it noted on my account that it was happening.
It's not just a Voyage issue, it's an electronic device issue. My Fire shuts down randomly once in a while and my iPod does too.
The charger for my son's $2000 MacBook Pro keeps scrapping out too. We're on the third charger in 3 years...at $75 a piece.

It happens to everything, it's not just a Voyage problem.
