#1 After 2 bad models I decided to get off of the merry-go-round.
#2 IF I were intending to keep one of the bad models - unlikely - I wouldn't do that. It would be like putting my child in the freezer.
#3 I don't stick my electronics in my freezer, as a rule, on the request of web posters (no offense intended, just a personal stance).
#4 The one time I have put something electronic in my freezer it was a hard drive in order to hopefully allow it to boot again temporarily - a desperate attempt to recover data. Which, btw, worked short term.
#5 I have been known to wash keyboards in my dishwasher, no heat, no drying, no soap, after my son spilled an entire sugary coke on it. I then air dried it for several days and it worked fine until the day I replaced it at least a year later (and may still be working somewhere - it was donated).

Okay I weakend (I've been ill for 6 weeks with bronchitis so my resitance is low). I picked up a Voyage in Argos. What do you think? (I know I shouldn't ask

Same page, same book, same font, both at maximum brightness. Left is my PW2 which I can still return to Amazon as I only got it last week, out of its case to make it closer in size to the Voyage. Right is the Voyage. I took this picture in a room with no lights on with the Cannon camera. I've not played with the picture at all, not even to check it size.

Yes it has a yellow top, I can see that as plain as day, but right now its not that bothersome. I really like the smootheness of the glass screen and the page press sensors, and how much brighter and whiter the screen is (even with the yellow top)

Do you still see the yellow top (which I'm sure you won't be too surprised to hear that I don't see) when you have the light at the level you'd actually read at?

It's hard to go back to the PW2 after experiencing the Voyage. I tried when I returned my Voyages. That's when I got the H20. I can understand wanting to make the Voyage work.

But if you're not bothered by the yellow top, then by all means enjoy it!

I expect so, I haven't read much yet, planning to do that tonight. I normally read at 20+ but as the Voyage is brighter i'll probably go down to 18.

I actually do see the yellow in this picture on the Voyage...BUT, to me, it makes it look more authentic, closer to an actual book. I don't think I would mind the yellow-ish tone. It's warmer.

I love my H20 but I do feel that I need a kindle as well, and I have to buy one as I gave my PW2 3G to hubby, so its a case of £109 or £169. We've sold two PW1s recently and thats generated about £110 net so its what to buy basicly.

I have a 3G Voyage on order (Dec. 2 ship date). I'm going to roll the dice again. Decided I should get the 3G model this time.

Sorry, let me clarify my previous post. I see the whole screen as slightly yellow tinted. What I don't see is a colour variation.

Between these specific two, the Voyage looks much better to me. Neither screen is perfect, and we know very well that the screens of both models can vary from unit to unit (based on the extensive evidence presented in this forum). Perhaps take another day or two, while reading on both of them, and then go with your gut. Apart from whatever else can be learned from reading this forum, it is clear to me that preference for screen types is a deeply personal choice, and different people can and do have radically different reactions to the same screen.

I can't take too long as for Argos to take it back as faulty I need to be able to convince them it is and that's best done asap. (They are not like Amazon)

But one thing I have noticed since I got my H20 is that whenever I pick up the PW2 the text always looks a tiny bit blurred and fuzzy, not sure if that makes sense. So much so that I actually wondered today if i'd ever actually read on it

So I guess I really need to compare it to the H2O and not the PW2.

I don't see the whole screen as yellow in RL but I do see what you mean on the picture, maybe that's why the top doesn't (right now) seem that bad. Need to read on it tonight both in the lounge where we use a tall lamp not an overhead light, and in bed with all the lights off.
