So...I just tried to open the Google Play store, and no joy. It looks like it's going to open at first, and then just goes back to the app list. I tried going in and clearing out the app data, and that didn't help at all.

Nate at the Digital Reader had to do a couple of factory resets to fix this.

Yes, I think you find it under settings/privacy/factory data reset. That should solve that problem.

It's also an absolutely ridiculous "fix". "Oh...we updated your device. Surprise--now you get the privilege of deleting all of the apps and content that you've accumulated on it, and all of the different ways you customized things, and you get to do it all over again!!". The fact that the manufacturer recommends this as the only way to fix the issue is horrifying. The update should be pulled until the problem is actually fixed. Shari |

There is another possible fix for Play Store. It involves force closing and then wiping the cache and data from the Play Store app and the Google Services Framework app. You then restart your T68. You can find where to do that under settings/extension/application settings. It won't hurt anything, and it sometimes fixes the problem. You may have to sign in again when you go to Play Store again, but you don't lose any apps or app data. |

On the top of the "manage apps" page, you should see choices - "downloaded" (which is where you start by default), "running", "on sdcard", and "all". You should find Google Services Framework under "All". To see if this fix will work, you need to do the force close and wipe data thing on both Play Store and Google Services Framework. If you find both, try it. If it doesn't work, back to the drawing board!

Do the factory reset. There were core changes to Google account and that is why some users might need to do the factory reset. After that Google Play should work flawlessly.

It's enough for me to stop recommending this to people...and I had been doing just that until now. Shari |

This update slightly improved the touch accuracy, but the top and bottom inch (where accuracy is most important are still problematic.
I've ended up having to turn on the android touch location spot, so I can see where my touch is actually being registered, so I can train myself in pressing where the device, sometimes, thinks where I am virtually pressing. |

The update broke few things for me.
For example when I press on battery icon to see popup with clock, volume etc. I see "Settings" button. In Polish it looks pretty funny: "Usta... Usta...". Usta means "Mouth" in polish, and written like this it means "mouth... to mouth". The touch accuracy is still not accurate. I won't consider it accurate until I'll be able to read Terry Pratchett books without problems. For those who didn't read any - those things have around 3 footnotes per page. In most reading apps you have to click link to the footnote. With "accuracy" that T68 has most of the time trying to click on those links means: * the page will change * it will be detected as pinch zoom and text size will change * it will be detected as hold and menu will open * nothing will happen Also, after you've read a footnote you have to press another link to get back. That means that any of the above can happen and as a bonus: * you've clicked completely different link to get back. You are on completely different page then before I'm lucky enough that I've read most of my Pratchett books on Nook. I only read Raising Steam on my T68 and it was terrible experience. The footnotes are pretty interesting and I couldn't give them up. Does anyone know good reading app that would at least show appropriate footnotes below the screen, like in word document or real book? That would make reading books written by master Terry Pratchett a possibility again! Nice fonts and no animations are also kind of necessary. |
