				Inconsistant moderation

I hope I'm not breaking any rules but I'm perceiving some bias in how moderation rules are being applied.

In this thread, https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...90#post2971490, posts 72 and 74, I got a very strict warning. I thought I was making a tounge in cheek comment of fact, not being an "advocate" for its use. HarryT Has blatently said it is OK to strip DRM for for books you own. Threads are allowed saying a new tools are available. They contain help on installation, they contain hints on how to get them to work. I thought discussion of DRM is OK, as long as no particulars are given. I'm seeing a double standard here. Is it just me? |

The difference being whether the book is one you've bought or one you've borrowed.

And in my questionable post, I don't think I advocated for anything, IMO. HarryT is on record as saying/promoting that users should strip the DRM on purchased books. I'm all for allowing discussion of non-detailed of DRM removal, it makes for some good discussions of the pros and cons ... And looking at this policy page: https://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/MobileRead#Policy It seems to imply that Advocation/disadvocation is allowed. Reading the policy, it looks like detailled discussion Of how to remove DRM is not allowed, yet advocacy for or against DRM and its uses should be allowed. I don't know how I could have been plainer in my first reponse to you, but I'll try.

You may not advocate removing DRM from library books on MobileRead. Thread closed. |
