Because of the affiliate tags, links to individual titles can't be posted in this thread. The prospective buyer will have to visit the website and search for the titles posted here.

I could strip the tags out, but then the owner(s) of the website wouldn't receive any income for titles that get purchased. Since they're going to the trouble to find and advertise these titles, it's only fair that they get credit for it.

Thanks. I'm glad that you caught that.

I learned a long time ago to check for affiliate tags in URLs of the books that I posted, but I didn't think about pre-checking links to books that are posted on the ABD website. If I had posted one of the books that I had found on ABD, like the Roosevelt title that I referenced, I think that I would have remembered to have checked for affiliate tags, but I'm not sure.

I did wonder several times how the ABD website and its sister websites generated any income with the paucity of ads on the webpages. ha

I don't think that I have the same inhibitions that you do about stripping the affiliate tags from the books on the ABD website. Don't most of the ebooks posted on the other threads originally (before we strip them) have affiliate tags? Granted, the affiliate tag of an ebook usually is an affiliate tag from the ebook's author (or publisher?) and not from an income-generating website. But I'll have to think about that. Anyway, I appreciate you for your ethical concerns.

I hope that everyone "gets the memo" about not posting individual titles from the ABD website. Or, at least, remembers to check for and strip any affiliate tags.

Update to Post #239

Even though the above, from post #239, was basically an incidental statement, I feel that I should update the information in it. Audible/Amazon apparently is making or has made a change. I am quoting from a post that I just made on the "Non-fiction" thread:

The Amazon webpage in the U.S., http://www.amazon.com/Rise-Theodore-...osevelt+morris, at least, shows, in the list of other formats available, the price for the "Audible Audio Edition, Unabridged Edition" (this is "Whispersync-ready") as $0.00. Something is awry. If you follow the link, you get a page that says that the audiobook is $26.95 (although in the list of other formats, it shows the price as $0.00 again!). The "Whispersync for Voice"-->"Add Narration" box shows the price as $3.99, but if you follow the link, you will get the same webpage (or one that looks the same) If you go directly to the Audible webpage for the audiobook, it shows a price of $26.95, with no mention of a Whispersync price that I can see.

I just borrowed the Kindle version from the library (Amazon counts that as ownership) and the Audible version is showing up as $3.99 on both Amazon and Audible.

An additional bit of information to add to Tubemonkey's post, immediately preceding this one, from a post on the Non-fiction thread:

The Whispersync price is $3.99, as listed, and that price will appear on the Amazon and Audible audio product pages for anyone who has purchased the e-book.

Tubemonkey! You're falling down on the job! I think that someone has actually scooped you on a audiobook news item!

Scribd (http://www.scribd.com) sent me an email in the early afternoon here (EST) about a new benefit to their monthly book subscription service. Here's part of the blurb:

"Scribd now gives you unlimited access to more than 30,000 audiobooks, including new releases, award-winning recordings & beloved classics narrated by acclaimed actors . . . . Even better, it's still just $8.99 a month, and your first month is on us. That means you can now enjoy access to the largest unlimited e-book and audiobook subscription service around, all for the lowest price around."

There has been a copious amount of discussion on one or more threads in this forum on Scribd--mostly about whether or not it is worth the cost (this is before the audiobook access began), I think. You might be interested in reading some of that, even if your main interest is in the audiobook service.

Personally, I want to "own" my ebooks and audiobooks, rather than borrow them. But "to each his own."

Amazon just named the above book the Best Book of the Year.

Amazon Unveils Best Books of 2014 List, Naming Celeste Ng’s Everything I Never Told You the Best Book of the Year

Quote:
Amazon.com today announced its selections for the Best Books of 2014. The annual feature includes the editors’ picks for the Top 100 Books of the Year as well as Top 20 lists in over two dozen categories, from Children’s & Teen to Cookbooks to Celebrity Picks. To see all of the Best Books of 2014, and buy the print or Kindle editions, visit www.amazon.com/bestbooks2014.

“The top pick, Everything I Never Told You, is kind of a ‘sleeper’ in that it got less attention initially than other novels, but Ng’s debut is a sad and moving story that we all fell in love with from the first line,” said Sara Nelson, Editorial Director of Books and Kindle at Amazon.com. “Deeply felt and searingly emotional, Everything I Never Told You is the kind of novel that people say doesn’t get published any more. We’re so happy it did.”

I covered myself by saying, "I think." And, your posts were on another thread in one case, and both another forum and thread in the other case.

I'm sorry, there will be no bunches of ripe golden yellow bananas for you today.

Does anyone know if there is a list somewhere which would have on it the least expensive Whispersync audiobooks? Alternately, does anyone know how a list could be generated of them, via a search or some other means?

I'm not looking for a list of the least expensive Kindle books which have Whispersyncs. I know how to generate a list of them.

I am wanting to conduct an experiment. I want to try to match up the least expensive Whispersync audiobooks with Kindle ebooks that I can check out from the libraries where I have borrowing privileges. Amazon considers borrowed Kindle ebooks as purchases, so I don't pay for them. Therefore, whatever the cost of the Whispersync audiobook is, that is the total of how much I would have to pay for the audiobook. This seems like it would be a way of ferreting out some really good audiobook bargains.
