I was watching "Gracepoint" and began to wonder if we (the audience) are responsible for the events that occur in a story, in any story? If we weren't watching would the events happen?

With that in mind, could this entire reality be the responsibility of an unseen observer? Could the unseen observer have creative teams that create the stories that form our reality?

And if that's the case then who is leading the team that is responsible for the creation of their reality?

My question is: if Americans can't manage to watch Broadchurch, what's wrong with us? Honestly, it makes my head hurt that they remade the whole damn thing, even using the same lead actor, for an "American" audience. WTH for? Man, talk about "making events happen" in a story!!!

Yes, I watched Broadchurch, and somehow, American-ness aside, managed to understand and enjoy it. Ye GODS!! I must be a freak of nature.

I'm a Doctor Who fan, and so I was interested in Broadchurch due to David Tennant's appearance. However, when I'd heard there was going to be a U. S. version of the series also starring David Tennant, I decided to wait for it. From what I understand, although both Broadchurch and Gracepoint have the same starting point, each series goes in it's own direction.

I've enjoyed Gracepoint and for the first time I have a series that I not only rewatch to make sure that I catch the small details, I also watch each episode as soon as possible. To quote Midnight Star by "Weird Al" Yankovic: I wanna know! I wanna know!

Now to take this off topic:

Why do people seem to like some typefaces and reject others? I think that there is no such thing as a bad typeface, but each has an appropriate use. As an example, I think Comic Sans is fine for a casual and informal note, but not for serious uses like wills.

Typeface has no bearing on the legality of a document. Although one might argue insanity as voiding a contract written in Comic Sans.

I vaguely recall--anyone else?--a discussion in a 1L class about a contract written on a door. Or was that a check?

In movies you see people walking round with sandwich signs proclaiming that it' "The end of the world" but I wonder what one of those people would do if someone walked up to them (during a crisis) and told them that they were absolutely correct?

I was watching Teen Titans Go! and they mentioned that a group of pegasi are called a "flerd." I checked the Wikipedia page concerning pegasi and they didn't mention what a group are called. However, "flerd" seems appropriate since pegasi are a combination of the word for a group of birds (flock) and the word for a group of horses (herd).

Flerd seems a logically created word to describe a group of pegasi. But with so many other animals, to me it seems there's no consistency when coming up with the group names for specific animals. Some examples (all are from Wikipedia):
  • A group of crows is called a murder.
  • A group of eagles is called a convocation.
  • A group of ferrets is called a busyness.
  • A group of gorillas is called a whoop.
  • A group of hedgehogs are called an array.
  • A group of bluejays is called a charm.
  • A group of wildcats is called a destruction.
Plus, ducks have 14 different names for their groupings, which varies based on where they are (air, land, or water).

Why is there so much variation in the names for groups of creature?
