Kobo have the best hardware but Amazon IMO have the best 'ecosystem'.

What's worse is now I'm closely examining every screen in my home looking for uneven lighting gradients. I always knew something was off abut the LCD display on my Oral-B :-/

Yes, your Voyage looks fine. Congrats. You're lucky. A number of people on the Voyage thread were less fortunate. They've posted pics of their Voyage screens that show a marked colour gradient. Others have posted pics that do not. It appears to be a QC issue. The problem has existed since the PW1. You'd think Amazon would be able to more consistently produce even screens from the factory by now. The PW2 was better. I can only guess that implementing a flush-bezel screen added in new variables to an already precarious lighting system. They'll iron it out, but the Amazon lighting tech and its manufacturing process is demonstrably less reliable than Kobo's. Last edited by Rizla; 11-08-2014 at 12:19 AM.

The Kobo looks nicer to me. In comparison, the Voyage light looks harsh and less like paper and more like a light bulb. But its an image on an LCD screen so its not a fair impression of how it looks in the flesh. Also the Voyage light appears to be set to a brighter setting. I would have liked to see it dimmed to a setting closer to the Kobo's. But yeah. The Aura looks really nice. I want one Last edited by Rizla; 11-08-2014 at 12:24 AM. |
