Thanks for the clarification, murg. After a stressful day making several calls between the US and Manila trying to track my package yesterday, they finally found it. I used my sister's name for the billing address since it was a gift from her so we used her card, and used my name for delivery since I was the one with the account with the forwarder. Turns out they sent it to the forwarder under my sister's name so it's been sitting there since the 22nd, with the forwarder not knowing what to do with the package since they had no idea who my sister was or how to contact her. I just have to shake my head at Kobo's incompetence but at least on the bright side, the H2O is there and should be on its way to me in about 2 weeks. |

The disclaimer is that I don't know all of this is happening for sure, just from the size of the shipments and the typical behaviour of current shipping methods. Kobo customer support should have been trained enough to not give out the pallet tracking number. But then again, we are talking about Kobo customer support. We're now getting Amazon packages in Australia that packed in the US into individual posting boxes, then pallet shipped to a forwarder in Australia, then broken out and posted individually.

You're probably right, that's most likely what happened with Kobo too.

I just ordered an Aura from Kobo. I couldn't find a way to choose an option to track shipping, but right after the order was processed, this was the message on the next screen: Quote:

I also got that email but I don't think anyone on MR has gotten shipping notification voluntarily from Kobo. You'll know your package has shipped when your card is charged. If you need the tracking number, you'll have to call Kobo up as emailing them doesn't seem to help either. Great you got a 10% discount though I wish I'd known about that before placing my order |

^ And here I was hoping that they had changed and had begun offering free tracking in the last couple days. |

Nope. :P To be fair, they do ship out pretty quickly though. I guess I was just unlucky. |

)? Then there's no reason to buy from Kobo if I'm in the US?

Mine arrived in Florida 2 days after I ordered. I used PayPal with my credit card just in case I had to backcharge for any reason, but it went off without a hitch. It was shipped Signature Required, so keep that in mind if you decide to go with them.

. Someone from this board showed me that I can order from Chapters before and I'd have done this much sooner had I realized that the price is in CAD. Discover 5% cashback+better price than Kobo store make it a much easier decision compared to Kobo store. This means my Voyage is going back to BestBuy. Hopefully I got a good unit and don't have to go through returning process.. Last edited by Hypernova; 11-07-2014 at 01:00 AM. Reason: Clarify

Best of luck on a speedy delivery & perfect H20 Hypernova :] 5% cashback -That is some Black Belt-level shopping on your part! My H20 screen is stellar, and the light is creamy (rather than yellow) - it very much replicates reading a paper book with incandescent light to my eyes. Now I'm having a stern talking-to with myself about putting my old HD up for sale, as I can already tell it's going to sit unused. |

Has anyone in the U.S. returned/exchanged a Kobo reader to either Kobo or Chapters/Indigo? If so, how did it go? I'm tempted to try a Kobo now that Sony has abandoned the ereader market, but dealing with international shipping makes me hesitate, especially with Kobo's lax tracking info. I'm particularly concerned about how it will be handled if the ereader has problems and I have to return/exchange it. Any thoughts? Thx! |

Exchanged my HD to Kobo bought through a third-party (Greenlight Books) last year for a hardware fault. Shipping speed/cost wasn't much different to Canada than the US in my case. Honestly, I had expected the experience to be more of a headache, given Kobo's CS reputation. I actually had a more frustrating time with B&N over a bad battery in my STR. |
