First thing I notice is it's way too bright now. Why would they do this! Screen Dim doesn't seem to work.

Update: Screen Dim from Google Play does work to fix this. Amazon version is not compatible yet. I sent Pruss a PM letting him know. I got headache from the new brightness but thank goodness for Screen Dim!!! It worth way more than a dollar to me!

My 4.1.1 update just came through.

The Amazon icons changed -don't like them.

The keyboard changed, thinner font which is less distinct, the qwerty keyboard no longer has the long-press for the symbols - don't like it.

Yeah me either. Profiles work but I don't see a way to share apps yet?

I have to say I can finally use Prime Music now and this for me makes the update worth it, even the headache it gave me.

The keys on the keyboard are slightly smaller too, aren't they?

They also changed the sounds; I lost the one I had been using.

I already have the Weather Bug app, so the addition of Kindle weather makes no difference to me.

Head's up that the Ivona voices have updates. You have to get to it via Settings.

Not slightly they are alot smaller. I keep fat fingering.

I love the new weather app. The whole home page is bigger not just the carousel previews. I find it alot slower and lagging but I wonder if it due to adding a profile on it. I added hubby so I can use Prime Music. Oh and it's already froze and I had to reset it. The lock screen seems buggy when messing with profiles.

My friend's #1 complaint was the new keyboard. I don't mind it because I've gotten used to it on the HD6. The lock screen is sometimes buggy on my HD6, I have to hit the power button to 'refresh it' so it will unlock sometimes, maybe that bug is a FireOS thing.
One thing I don't understand is why WPS word processor is not showing up as an app, it doesn't on the HD6 either, but it shows up when you go to open a doc. They also mentioned a new calculator app for Sangrea, but I have not seen it.
I need to give Sangrea a better workout on the HD7, but so far I like it overall.

It takes a while doing the indexing or something. If you have a large library it is best to give it several hours to do its thing. After that the lag pretty much goes away. At least it did for me.

I hate the new keyboard too. Tell your friend she can side load most of any of the free keyboards from Google Play and it should work fine.

If you long-press the alpha keys the symbols will show up. Of course, you have to drop down into the numerical keyboard first to find the right one SINCE THEY AREN'T MARKED ON THE ALPHA KEYBOARD!!!

I am making so many more typing errors because of those smaller keys and my large thumbs...

My Kindle Fire isn't new though. It's the same one I've had since 2013 so it's all indexed.

Maybe not but it is new to 4.1.1, maybe the change in OS means it needs to update the content.

Has anyone notice how much your display has changed? All my Moon+ Theme colors are now totally off. I guess one might say it's crisp but it's seems like the colors are more yellow.

Just a head's up: after the upgrade my ESET Mobile security app disappeared from my HDX - it wasn't showing up on my device or in the cloud, and I have the paid version of it.

I had to redownload it from the store and when I try to activate it, I'm getting a communication failure with the activation servers.
