I believe it becomes too wide spread - and to risk a riot or recall so close to christmas must be devastating for Amazon to consider.

The reviewer said he attached a picture? Did you see than anywhere? I couldn't find it on the product page or on their review.

No, and then I read another review that claimed it included a picture, which was also missing. I wonder if Amazon started removing them.
I would have attached pics to my review, but there was no option when I wrote mine. Did you guys have the option?

I just double-checked and there is no option to attach a picture, only a video. Recent change? I don't know. I don't mess with that. You used to be able to have various pictures in profiles, but I looked and didn't see any pictures in his profile.

I saw one review that had pics at the bottom - one that showcases glare. Weird.

If you have glare, you are holding it wrong. If you got two toned screen it is normal. See where that is going?

If you can't laugh at there attempts, at least cry.

I've been communicating with Amazon for the past two weeks on this lighting gradient issue and, until today, was pretty pleased with their handling of the matter. Someone from Amazon engineering contacted me to have me send my original to them (which was purchased from Best Buy) and Amazon CS sent me a replacement. I received the replacement yesterday and the lighting gradient was worse than the first one.

After chatting with Amazon online as to how to go about obtaining a unit without the gradient, I was told (after some delay) –

"10:32 AM PST Sachin(Amazon): I've checked and see that a return pick up has been processing for your Kindle. Please don't worry. You should soon receive a call regarding the same. You may then return the Kindle that is more defective.

10:33 AM PST Sachin(Amazon): Also you may keep the Kindle purchased from Bestbuy as you feel that is the better among both.

10:33 AM PST Patrick[]: I did talk to them yesterday. They wanted to receive the original one purchased from Best Buy (which is the one with the better screen). Is there any way to obtain one without the screen defect?

10:34 AM PST Patrick[]: I'm uncomfortable with returning units again and again.

10:35 AM PST Patrick []: But I do expect that a $200 premium item should not have this defect. And we purchased two!

10:38 AM PST Sachin(Amazon): I'm so sorry about that Patrick. . When using Kindle Paperwhite/Voyage under certain lighting conditions, the illumination at the bottom of the screen from the built-in light is not perfectly even. These variations are normal. In our testing, most readers did not find this distracting to their reading. Unfortunately, I'm unable to replace your device again."

Initially, I was getting myself ready to live with the issue, because apart from this issue the Voyage is a nice improvement from my PW2012. I also prefer it to the PW2014. But after reflecting upon it further, and realizing that I was instructed to "return the Kindle that is more defective," ALL of the Voyages are going back. It's pretty clear that all of the screens have this defect to varying degrees.

I've been fine with my PW2012 and it's blotchy screen, as it was less costly and the first lighted screen they had available. But after all these years, and the increased cost, I expect to receive the quality they're advertising.

Hope that's helpful to anyone contemplating purchasing and/or returning their unit.

Not sure why I feel so emotional about this statement. Maybe because it feels like a slap in the face. Maybe because ypu could finish the sentence with
..., and the ones that do, will just have to suck it.

In the end, Amazon is giving you your money back. You just have to accept the device is what it is and accept it or move on. You are out nothing.
