Look at my original post, ace: I was responding to Jack's comment that "it's not a matter of effing perception".

![]() Perhaps worth noting, though, that the behaviour of collections with respect to whether or not you see the books in them separately as well as in the collections has been the same since the days of the Kindle Touch! |

As long as the user cannot disable the front light the device isn't interesting.

Anyone ordered their Kindle Voyage from Germany? I was very happy with my device at first, until I discovered three bright dots centered in the middle of the screen. From what I gather they are apparently trapped dust particles which are being illuminated by the lighting. Now I'm considering going for a replacement device through the Amazon service, but I'm not sure how long I'd need to wait for a replacement, since the delivery date for new purchases has been moved up a few months. I'm also concerned about possibly getting a device with a worse display -- are these bright dots common?
EDIT: Nevermind, I just decided that I'm being silly. I can barely ever see these points even when I'm reading (at all light levels). It's just a stupid imperfection that I noticed because I searched for it, but which will never actually bother me. Last edited by cryzed; 11-05-2014 at 06:02 PM. |

And why don't you tell be the same thing? Oh wait, I never said so. So for entertaining purposes here it is: As a matter of fact I have seen the color shift in the original. I was being polite in my first answer, but apparently polite does not register with you. So maybe this will? Stop insulting others that do see the blue bottom, yellow top in Harry's picture by telling them they been fooled by their brain. |

Peace, people.
As a biomedical scientist who studies vision, although not at the level of the brain, what is interesting to me is that there seems to be a difference in contrast sensitivity as well. I would not be surprised if people see the screen as a different color. That is well known and easily tested. It does surprise me that some people see a gradient of colors whereas others see a uniform color. In men with red/green colorblindness, I might not be too surprised if it were a red to green gradient, but a yellow to blue puzzles me. Also, it is not just men who don't see the gradient. While I do see it in some of the photos, Harry's looks OK to me. A very interesting phenomenon. ![]() Last edited by krazy4katz; 11-05-2014 at 07:18 PM. |

COLOR TEST <- I dug up this old link we used during the PW1 debacle, which helped us establish that we all have varying degrees of color perception. It's a fun test.
@Harry, thank you for posting a picture. I can see a gradient that is in line with all the devices I have seen so far: warm top, cold bottom. I am attaching a picture that mirrors top and bottom, not sure if you will be able to see the difference, and I rather hope you won't, since you are happy with your KV, and that's all that matters. I will say that yours look to me much, much better than any of the screens I've had. Quote:
Just because you can't see the color variation, doesn't mean that my brain tricks me into seeing anything. I received my first KV, opened the package, and called customer service right away. The colors were right in front of me, and that's before I heard that others received equally colored screens. |

This is why I've been advocating calling them and telling them your kindle is defective, and request if they will send a replacement once it's corrected. They then place a note on your account and you're covered. My PW 2 was over a year old, and because I called and had the note on my account, I've been able to request the newer 2014 PW 2, for free. |
