I don't think anyone's saying that the people who perceive colour in their screen are making it up . I, like about 1 in 7 men (but only 1 in 50 women), am red-green colour-blind, which may at least partially account for why I don't see it.

I've read books that have more color/tint variation across the page than Harry's Voyage. I've also had books that are more difficult to read outdoors than my Paperwhite. The more "sensitive" perception is not necessarily the more accurate, or useful. One of the most important parts of "seeing" is excluding data that are unnecessary/deceptive/distracting/counter-productive. Discriminating information from noise is key, and what constitutes information as opposed to noise is always dependent on the context and, to a greater or lesser degree, the intent/focus of the observer.

Enjoy your Voyage.

No, that's not what I am saying.
I am saying that there are some people that are probably seeing it because they are looking too hard, forcing themselves to see something that is not there-they are influenced by other people's observations.

You know, sometimes if you hear something enough you start to believe it.

Have you ever read the side effects list for a new medication that you have to take? And once you take the med you suddenly start to think you feel those side effects?

It's a psychological response. You read about it and you effectively forced your brain to trick you into thinking you have those side effects, when you don't.

I think people can convince themselves that they see something that is not really there because they have been told often enough that it IS there. They have read reviews from other people saying that all screens have the discoloration, so mine must have it too.

No, I don't think people who see the discoloration are making it up. I believe it exists on some screens. I am just wondering if there are some people "seeing" something that isn't really there because they have convinced themselves that it should be there.

Have you tried reading a page or two in landscape? If you don't notice any variation then, you might as well declare your screen uniform and forget about it.

I've already declared my screen uniform.
I am very happy with it.

Honestly, if I haven't noticed any discoloration yet I am certainly not going to go searching for problems.

Because honestly, in that picture, I am just not seeing any pink/blue tones. At all.
I resent the implication I am seeing things,

I'm not, I see what my eyes tell me I see.

I find what you're saying rather insulting. Are you aware that Amazon CS reps have told more than a few people on this board that the voyage screen is two toned, yellow at the top and blue on the bottom and that it's "normal" for the device? I think it's been well established that some people's eyes are more sensitive to these color variations than others. Some people see it, some don't.

Those who see it are most certainly not imagining it, convincing themselves it's there, or being influenced by others on the board. I saw the two toned screen within seconds of setting up my voyage. I received it the day of release. I also had color issues with the Paperwhites as well and Amazon CS reps admitted to me those problems existed with the screens. I did manage to get a PW2 that is even and without colors, but the voyage is likely going to be an issue for anyone who has this sensitivity.

Thankfully the Kobo H20 doesn't suffer from color hues and an uneven screen (to my eyes, at least) and therefore I'm able to enjoy it without issue. For those who do have eyes that are sensitive to color variations and sees them easily, I really suggest giving one a try. It might be the answer for you if you're not able to enjoy the voyage.

I'm waiting for my Voyager to ship. How concerned am I about the color-on-the-screen issue. On a scale of one to ten, one. About same as the same problem on the Paperwhite. About the same as the "flimsy" memory card access door on my camera. Of course, in the years I used the camera I never had a problem and no one on the forums I visited had a problem.

So, I don't think anyone is lying and I am not at all concerned about the horrible problem.

Lighten up. I'm not saying the entire screen discoloration issue is non-existent. I do believe it exists. I'm just saying that *some* people, NOT EVERYONE, may see it because they are trying too hard to see it. I know it exists because I have seen pictures of some screens with it. But there may be people who are more easily influenced by the power of suggestion and try too hard to find a problem when it *may* not exist on theirs.

You know, the people that say that they can clearly see it one day, then the next it is not there, or they say they *think* they see a slight discoloration but they're not sure.

If you're insulted by that, you need to grow a thicker skin.

Yes, but your brain, which is open to the power of suggestion, tells your eyes what to see.

Optical illusions would be a good example.

I agree with you. I see some slight discoloration on my Voyage, and now I see the same discoloration on my year-old Kobo Aura HD. I don't think I would have noticed anything on either had I not been reading these threads.

Damn straight they are! In astrophotography I can get a lot of color to show, but if you look through a telescope at the same object under the same conditions it will look grey and white. The photos will show the bad lighting/tinting on Voyages and they prove it is not effing "perception" as some or suggesting. I'm thinking some of us are better able to see colors than others on these screens/light layers. One guy here keeps saying it is our brains tricking us. If that's the case we may have to start issuing disclaimers to people entering some of the threads on here. Warning, this thread may make you see colors not only on your voyage, but all your other e-readers as well.
