I have even tried holding a piece of white paper across half the screen-it's still uniform in color, but the picture doesn't show that. In my pictures I think the overhead light in the room is distorting the color of the screen.

I wonder how much of this is actually perception and how much is people seeing what they *think* they should see. A psychological tic, so to speak. They've heard so much about the discolored screens that their brain tricks them into seeing it.
Because honestly, in that picture, I am just not seeing any pink/blue tones. At all.

I don't see color variations on your Voyage. It looks fine. Perhaps that's why I was pleased with my PW1; I can't see any variations on it either.

Yes, the lighting does matter quite a bit. It's not easy to make a photo that accurately records subtle color differences.

I have come to accept the screen quality after seeing 6 different units. What I have done is turn the light down and I try to use the Voyage with good ambient light. This really hides the screen defects to me.

I wish Amazon put a little more effort into the Voyage because this is a high-end device, but I can live with the screen limitations.

A camera is generally more sensitive to colour than the human eye.

When I take photographs of relief carvings on the walls of Egyptian temples (I'm doing a degree in Egyptology), the photograph very often shows clear traces of the original colour on the carvings that aren't visible to the naked eye.

I, on the other hand, cannot believe that people do not see the yellowish hue and the top and then the blue hue at the bottom of that picture Harry posted. It is so obvious to me, but again pictures can sometimes lie.

I use the light less than 8 (usually 6-7) and with good ambient light. I very rarely notice the screen defects this way and I am happy with the Voyage finally.

Just goes to show that it's very much a matter of individual perception, which is what I've been saying all along. I was curious to know what other people thought of my screen, which looks great to me.

I see a yellow tint at the top and blue at the bottom. I would likely see it even more in different lighting situations. I have yet to see a photo of the voyage that doesn't have it, to be honest. Like Drew, I can't believe it's not very obvious to everyone, but it just goes to show how different people's eyes are.

Glad you're happy with it and don't see it. Enjoy it.

Your screen looks very good to me also.

Interesting. When it comes to your research, there's a huge advantage in recording digital images that overcome some of the limitations of the human eye. There does seem to be a variety of different perceptions on what's being seen on these ereader screens. It's not the just the difference in the "eye of the beholder," more importantly, how each individual's brain is perceiving the image. I suppose that goes back to your earlier comment about perceptions.

Erm, so you're saying because you can't see it, its not there?
Although Harry's screen to me certainly looks much better than others that have been posted, I can see some yellow at the top and a smattering of light pink in several places. However, what I can see is a moot point as long as Harry is happy with the screen on his Voyage

My first PW1 was horrible, the replacement was acceptable; my PW2 was great at the first time of asking so I'm going to stick with it for now and not play screen lottery this year with the Voyage.
Might be worth mentioning that I'm a photographer and use calibrated monitors - those of us who work with images day in day out can usually spot colour casts in a split second and we're a tad fussy about that kind of stuff

If my brain doesn't perceive it, then for me, it is indeed not there. We "see" with our brains.

I agree that in Harrys picture there is little if any discoloration.

I handed my KV to 2 other people. Told them to use it and tell me what they think. I walked away from both of them and came back 5 minutes later and they said "is it me or is the top half of the screen yellow?" and "it seems two-toned"

Fair enough, but what I meant really is that it's not because javadoo can't see it either that it means that the people who can see it are just making it up. Does that make more sense? At least you can enjoy yours
