I won't defend them because they are going about it all wrong.

Bad reviews should be subject to fines and prison sentences. Because they result in lost sales. And that's all that matters. Above any other consideration.

I had the misfortune of getting an AT&T Tantalus field. After you kill 20 people with it, AT&T throttles your usage and you can kill only one person a day. It's terribly disappointing, you have to resort to assassins...they just aren't very trustworthy.

That's a shame. Hey, I have a Genesis Device for sale. You can reformat an entire planet to your liking in a matter of hours. Why settle for 20 when you can take out billions.

There's laws for that.

Sure, that sounds efficient. First, we'll see if the mods mind if you list WMD on the flea market and I'll buy it from you (How does 1 million Kwatloos sound?) Next, I'll have to find the right guy to launch it. I'm going to look for a superhuman megalomaniac in suspended animation and defrost him. (Hey, what could go wrong?) I think there are some frozen megalomaniacs left over from the 1990s Eugenics wars. If you can't remember the Eugenics wars, I'm a little fuzzy too, but I have some memory loss from taking too much LDS back in those days.

Budget cuts at NASA. The JSFC researcher time is covered by base funding but the hardware costs aren't. Normally DARPA would've chipped in but they too are hamstrung. They're not even supporting compact fusion R&D with clear nearterm defense applications.

National R&D efforts have been going to the dogs this decade.

Fortunately the plasma drive was well along before the new regime kicked in. The good news is it is scheduled to be tested on the ISS next year. The bad news is it was scheduled to go up on an Antares rocket.

I can see not wanting to be interviewed as long as you don't mind a lack of publicity for what you do (concerts, books, etc.) but trying to have something that's already several yrs old erased as if it had never been smacks of revisionist history to me. It's like with those who say that the Holocaust in Germany never happened in WWII or something. Those who forget history are condemned to repeat it and once something is out there it's like it doesn't just belong to one person but to all of us.
