Sixth defective Voyage - I give up!

My sixth Voyage came in, with a pinprick hole and a very uneven screen. That's it, I am sending them all back.

For those of you who don't know or remember, I was one of the people here who went through a ton of PW1s when they first came out, only to keep the least bad one. Then, when the PW2 came out, I went through a ton of devices only to keep the least bad one. I no longer am willing to pay good money for subpar quality. Enough is enough. I will stick with my horrid PW2 (2013) screen for a while longer.

Also, I wholeheartedly agree that the newer Paperwhites [PW2(2014)?/PW3?] must be much better than the crappy ones I received in November/December 2013, because here in this thread, throughout this forum, and in the Voyage reviews on Amazon.com, I read again and again how Amazon fixed the blotchy PW1 screens with the PW2. They didn't, at least not in the beginning, or I would not have had to keep the least bad of the units sent to me, and my PW2 screen would be evenly lit now, with only a single hue of color.

The screens I saw in person and in pictures here when the PW2 first came out were multicolored, but more recent pictures posted here appear to be more even, as do devices I see in person at BB. This all leads me to believe that they improved the tech or QC or whatever, and they did not advertise it because they can hardly say: Pay the same money for the same device that now sucks less, or, as DuckieTigger more eloquently put it:

I'm so sorry, xendula. I feel so badly for you. Very disappointing. Hopefully they iron these issues out soon so you can get a great voyage down the road.

My 1st KV showed up today-finally. It does seem to have the discoloration near the top but, honestly, it is barely noticeable and I am not sure that I would've noticed if I didn't know to look. No pinpricks that I can see so far. I will hang on to it for a while and see if the discoloration bothers me in my usual reading areas or not. I will also see if it gets any better. Haven't had a chance to really read with it yet. I restarted it and seems a tad better. Could be my imagination though.

If your PW2 is still within a year I'd ring up and complain about it, explain that you settled for a bad one at the time as it was the best Amazom could send you and that now the issues are resolved you want a replacement. Especially as you can't get a decent Voyage.

Just one comment: My PW2 which was purchased upon release (Oct 2013), has a perfect screen (white color, even lighting).

Sorry you got another Voyage you have to return and here's hoping you'll find an ereader you'll be satisfied with.

Same here...I bought 2 PW2 in October 2013. One for myself and one as a Christmas gift. Both have perfectly uniform, white screens-they're flawless.
I took it out yesterday to take a good look at it and still can't find any flaws in the screen.

The screen clarity and quality of the Voyage is definitely a step up from the PW2.
I still love my PW2, but the Voyage screen is gorgeous.

You're right that it might affect quality control...the question that you dodged was, why would it affect quality control for the Amazon devices more than it would for the iPads and other devices that are made in Foxon facilities?

Apparently, I am one of the lucky ones that got a good one on the first try.
