Calibre on an Acer Iconia tablet

I'm now using an Acer tablet an Fbreader to read my ebooks but prefer the "ereader for all formats" that comes with Calibre for my Win 7 PC. Since I don't have to depend on the reader that comes with my nook any longer I would like to use Calibres'. I would love to have Calibre it'self (the whole kit and kaboodle if there is an app. Thanks, Paul |

@p3aul - The calibre software including its reader will only run on Windows (not RT), OS/X and Linux, but not Android or IOS. BR |

I have my entire library on my tablet and CC allows me access to virtually all of the same metadata, sorting and searching found in calibre. I use it to find and launch my books in the reading app of my choice. | |

calibre already runs on ARM, it just needs to be compiled for ARM. The code is python and runs on any python interpreter (assuming all dependencies are satisfied). The problem is as chaley said, you need more than the kernel and Java virtual machine. Usually Kovid bundles all dependencies, but it would require serious effort to rewrite calibre to display in a Java-based app. I believe there are a few implementations of Python for Android, which could be used as the bundled version, but it would require a rewrite to use that instead, and have different ways of doing some things like graphics, from what I've heard... and it's a total mess and not really worth getting into, basically. |
