Works in California; after about 150 tries I finally got a 75%. Still trying for another 65% or 75% for the other U.S. couponable book I want; if I don't get it the 55% one I got after about 75 or so tries will have to do.

Interestingly, 12:13 US Eastern Time, I've gone to Kobo to play the tenth day of the contest - and there is no contest to be found.

Guess they figured out their own glitch from yesterday?

Whooops.... ETA: I can get there from the original contest link - and yes, day ten is performing the same way as day nine.

I can confirm that one needs to play the US Contest in order to be able to utilise the repeat game function.

As someone who doesn't live in the US, UK or CA, Kobo has become completely useless. Without coupon codes, there is no way I can continue purchasing from them. I've signed up for Scribd instead - $8.99 per month for unlimited books.

I'm still going to buy books, just not from Kobo. I won't switch to a book rental scheme no matter what though. It's hard to explain, but I have to "own" my books. Even if I buy a book today which I may not read for another year, it's very comforting that it's in my personal library. I'm probably just as much a collector as a reader

But they do have sci/fi and mystery. I haven't gone through the lists yet.

I still have a sub there, but I can't stand the reading app. because on my laptop the contrast is awful (yes, I know they have options. They all hurt my eyes after barely an hour of reading). The selection of books is decent and if I had a Nexus or Galaxy or whathaveyou, it would probably work for me. Probably.

This is close to my own feeling, irrational as I know it is.

Of course, the lack of books from the major publishers in any of the subscription services is also a factor. I'm not sure I'd still hold out if (say) Amazon's entire ebook catalogue was included in a scheme.
