Hi everybody and thanks for all your opinions. Now, I consider that the most consistent reason to choose one or the other is LIGHT and LIGHT irregularities like bottom or top shadows, top/bottom dark triangles/forms, irregular light, bottom/top/corner spotlights, top/bottom lines with excessive light, and so on; as most of us will spend lots of hours and days visualizing any little aberration. I noticed that no one gives important clues about this. Also, the shadows that the H2O produces because of the "raised" bezels is particularly annoying in my opinion. As well as the yellowish screen compared to the kindles. Having to touch the screen for page turn is also an important handicap as no one wants to dirty/mess/soil the screen with the tons of page turns that one will have to make during the ereader lifetime. On the other side, Amazon seems to want to stick with the primitive 6" screen, so it's a real downside that buyers should punish for Amazon to understand that it has to change, since Amazon seems not smart enough to see that it's totally necessary to increase the screen size. If you want a very portable device to read you can read with your smartphone which is only 1 inch smaller. This is a profoundly ridiculous size. We're gonna spend a lot of time reading at home, and it's a total downside having that microscopic size only in pro of portability. BUT, the most important thing, WHICH ONE HAS THE BEST AND EVEN LIGHT? That's the real matter. See you. Last edited by karter; 10-30-2014 at 08:23 AM. |

Well, you first ordered one and you were satisfied with it. Then you ordered another and you were satisfied with TWO. Now, if you order yet another one, you'll be satisfied with THREE. I see nothing wrong with being satisfied with three. What's the problem here? | |

WOW! I'm sorry you're having such a difficult time. I'm quite happy with my Kindles and Kobos. For me, the lighting is great! I hope you get your lighting issues sorted out, and the sizes that seem to give you so much trouble and angst. I think, in your case, it would be wise to completely avoid e-ink readers. You'll be much happier - I hope! Have a good day! Last edited by Dr. Drib; 10-30-2014 at 03:20 PM.

Does anyone have a H2O that doesn't have a yellowish light? Mine is very white.

I like the H20 better than the Voyage I had. The only aspect I liked about the Voyage was landscape mode, but the screen on the H20 is so much bigger that its like reading a paperback in portrait mode. There is a tiny bit of shadow on the raised bezel so I adjusted the margins to be within about 1/4 inch away and no problem. I also prefer the warmer tint to the screen as opposed to the cold blue, as the cold blue is like looking at a computer screen or white background on a tablet. The only reason I would switch back to Voyage would be the landscape mode which was perfect for me. I'm surprised how well the H20 works and how much you can customize the fonts and spacing. I also like tapping the screen to change the page on both devices. I think people get used to what they have used. I think the lighting and screen is much better on the H20. I also wouldn't want the special offers that require a two step activation to get it out of sleep. Kobo lets you opt out of being tracked on purchases and what you are reading in the settings.

My H2O has a very slight warm cream tint, which looks white in almost all ambient light. I love it. The screen is perfect with no pinpricks or spots.

And if you have the magnetic cover, it is just one tap. What do you mean by "tracking"? I am pretty sure both Amazon and Kobo will always know what books you have purchased from them. I do not believe I have ever seen an indication that Amazon advertises books to you based on which books you have recently read, settings or not.* Does Kobo? * -- They will, of course, advertise books based on your purchase history.

I see you have a PW2. Is the screen on your PW2 yellowish or more cool toned?

^^^ THIS. When I first opened mine it really struck me as being yellow. After 20 minutes of reading I didn't notice it any more and I wouldn't want to go back to the harsher blue colour of the Aura HD which I had always liked before I got the H2O.

I'll also be returning the h20 because there is no landscape mode. When this is included and the header and footer margins are fixed I'll consider ordering another. The voyage is also expensive so will probably just use my nexus for now. This took way more time than I thought.

After the screen headache with the Voyage, and being told it's normal and to be expected in certain lighting conditions (which for me is ALL lighting conditions), I ordered an H20. I want the larger screen size anyway, but I also wanted buttons. Oh well, can't have it all. Hopefully I'll get an issue free one. The Voyage front lighting ruins it for me, which is a shame because it's an otherwise fantastic device. I like the customization of the Kobo, and now that I've worked with Calibre a bit, I feel comfortable getting my Amazon content onto the Kobo (if I can do with the Nook it shouldn't be an issue with Kobo). Not seamless, but not that much of a hassle, and worth it if the ereader is as good as advertised.
