I think it's more a matter of the eyes adjusting, rather than anything actually happening with the kindle, by changing the lighting and other gimmicks people are trying.

Some look different in varying situations. Turn it landscape and it is even more easily seen - like looking a two toned painting. Mine persisted no matter which position - upside down, landscape, upside right, laying flat. I never got around to testing it outside, since I rarely read outside anymore - not fond of slathering on sunscreen.

ETA - I tried various things - auto bright on/off, night reading on/off, factory resets, restarts, etc. No change.

Does the yellowing come back after leaving it in sunshine? And after how long - immediately upon leaving sunny area?

I turned the auto brightness and the night reading features off on mine as soon as I got it. So those could not have been the culprit in my case.

Just got mine today. Screen is awful, almost burnt looking on top, blue on the bottom, text is much sharper on the bottom than the top. Back it goes. I wonder if I got someone else's earlier return...

Going to give it one more try, then either wait, get a PW2, or try Best Buy. I'd get an H20, but seeing that there's been many with screen issues on that, and Kobo's almost nonexistent CS, I don't want to chance it.

This is an issue I have with one of my replacements. Not only does it not always register touch, it also seems to require much more precise touching than the other KVs. This specific device also freezes up a lot, including during set-up, while I have never ever had a Kindle freeze on me before. (See attached video screengrab, where you can clearly see I tried to get out of the settings screen by touching icons up top, which turned black but did not let me leave the screen.)

I had the "not registering touches" with my KV#1. When the 2nd one came in with the screen issue I turned it off and packed it up. I did no further testing.

Hmmm, that's strange. Since I have never had a kindle freeze before, i thought it was just this specific device that was malfunctioning. I wonder if that's a larger issue now.

I'm not sure. I have had other kindles freeze on me, but it's quite rare. My voyage has froze a couple times now already so it's a little concerning. Might be sorted with new firmware in the future.

My PW2 freezes when I click footnote links too often. It never happened until I read Meacham's Jefferson book which has a lot of footnotes. It happened regularly while reading that book.

No freezes on my Voyage so far.

I didn't have a freeze with my KV, but one of the reasons I'm replacing my PW1 is the frequent freezes despite numerous FRs, etc. I had the touch issue thing with the KV and that's how it started with my PW1. I hope, really, truly, deeply, not borrowing trouble, that there's no relationship. It has never let up with my PW1. I have issues until today with touch and freeze.

Slightly OT - Please don't be mad

I am sooooooo happy!!! I got a white PW2! Yay!!!

True - promise - I ordered a couple more, ran out of names on my MYCD, and "Mr. Lucky" popped into my head so I thought "who knows, it might be the lucky one". I made a point of opening it first and leaving the others untouched. I started charging it and was a little disappointed when in comparison it still appeared to have a yellow look. Just removed it from the charger and when it came on it was white! Wheeeeeee! Mr. Lucky!

Well they're not replacing for the screen issue, just doing refunds now. The person I talked to said there was going to be a software fix soon, but that in certain lighting situations this is normal and expected. I took the refund, the screen is really bad with light only partially turned up, and horrible at brighter settings.

A shame because at low light--all the way down--the screen is fantastic, and I love the buttons, once I figured out to squeeze instead of tap. Hope they get the lighting sorted out because it's an otherwise phenomenal device.
