I will say when the collections are resynced they are easy to view and find reading selections but managing them, nope not easy at all. But like I said the pw has been my collection device and it is still my favorite to use for this feature. And while I love that I can now put my apps and audiobooks into collections, creating them is not so easy. I especially hate you cannot search to filter down what you want to put into a collection but it doesn't let you use the search results to put into collections. Again I sent in feedback to Amazon telling them how user unfriendly this is.

Mine is boxed up already. The sooner I get rid of it the better. I am reading on Kobo's now and manually syncing bettween devices. That might have to be the way forward for me.

If i had a tablet for Calibre Companion it wouldn't be a Fire, it would more likely be a Nexus 7, but I have my ipad so I can't see me doing that.

Probably no point in my replying, since you've boxed it, but why wouldn't you use it on a Fire 6? To me, it's the perfect device for CC and reading (I use Moon+). I've got over 5000 books on it, and some games and other apps, and still have 8gb left. I find the Nexus 7 too large for reading, whereas the Fire 6 is just right.

I wanted it to manage my Amazon collections but if I get rid of mine and its just hubbys then thats easier anyway as he only has books. Not sure if he will read his miltary non fiction on it though, it might be too small for him. I'll think again tomorrow |

What naming conventions are you using for your collections? Differentiating them might help to make it a little easier to navigate through them? I had over 100 collections just on my pw alone. Once I added collections for my apps and audibles, another 50 or so was added to the collection.

I gave up on pdocs a long time ago. Side load books is the way to go. I keep my books on the cloud through Dropbox or I transfer them over with Calibre companion. Moon+ is my preferred reader it syncs to each tablet I have.

Thanks everyone. I reduced my personal documents in the Amazon Cloud to four collections, just over 200. I'm having another play with it tonight.

Do you have the Moon+ Pro? Will have to look into that syncing feature and using CC to download. You said you download straight from Dropbox. When it syncs does it write anything to the book in Dropbox?

No, I believe it stores all info in a database which it saves to Dropbox.

No, it does not alter the book. It uploads it's own file that includes info like last page read, bookmarks and then there another file for annotations if you make any. You see you have to authorize Moon to use Dropbox and it creates a folder inside your apps folder on Dropbox in side there it keeps all the files and books to sync back and forth. Syncing takes some getting use to like you can't sideload the book on two devices. For Syncing to work you sideload book on Device 1 then read a few pages then sync which moon then uploads the book and files to go with it. You then you go to Device 2 click on the Dropbox tab inside Moon+ and download the book into Moon and it will now sync on both devices back and forth. Once you get use to the method it's easy to keep them working together. |
