Speed Voyage vs basic

I bought myself a basic kindle to go with my 2012 paper white and the one thing that I have noticed is that my new basic is a whole lot faster than my old paper white one. So my question is this how fast is the new voyage when compared to the new 2014 basic kindle?

I won't pay the extra dollars for the screen resolution, which forum members have said is rather subtle difference between the 2013 paper white and the voyage or the light sensor however if the voyage can beat or match the 2014 basic for speed and Amazon will except my old paper white in trade they might have a deal there.

My understanding (saw this in a published review somewhere, but do not remember which one) is that the all of this year's Kindles have the same speed processor, which is also the same as last year's PW2. The PW1 has a slower processor than these models, and so any of them would likely show an improvement over it. Research this for yourself, however, as I only read this in a single source.

There is no question that the 2015 Voyage will beat the 2014 Voyage in every way imaginable.

Not so fast! Same processor but higher resolution, means that the same processor has more work to do on the Voyage as compared to the Basic and PW.

I would not be so hasty to make that pronouncement, amazon may have other plans for their kindle line up.

Provided the 2014 Voyage gets its act together enough to have a 2015 Voyage.

I offer the 2012 paper white as an example of Amazon's behavior. The 2012 paper white has some things wrong including the book light. Amazon got it all correct when they made available the next model in 2013. I have no doubt that the 2015 voyage will have these problems fixed, however the 2016 model may introduce a few problems that the 2015 model did not have.

I think they'll get the screen problems more or less ironed out in the 2014 Voyage (eventually). But will the initial problems, and high price, slow sales enough were Amazon won't see enough demand for a 2015 version?

This is important to remember for anyone who may be contemplating a purchase whenever a new device is released by Amazon.

You might be right, microsoft is having the same problem they are up against the ultimate competitor, them selves. Amazon needs to figure out how to beat out themselves
