Unhappy Calibre 2.7.0 No Longer Coverts AZW to EPUB

After installing the update of Calibre to 2.7.0 I am no longer able to open and automatically convert any Amazon Kindle books to EPUB. I get a message stating that it is DRM protected. I never had any problems prior to this updated version. Help! Is it still possible to convert to EPUB from AZW??

Calibre can't now and never could convert DRM'ed books by itself. If it could before on your setup, it's because it had help. Which you won't find here, because that's illegal.

It is not illegal, it is legally gray.

And the owner of MobileRead does not wish to be the sacrificial lamb/guinea pig to test the boundaries of the DMCA and end up in court suing for Fair Use rights.

We can, however, suggest googling "apprentice alf".

Its also worthwhile learning what version of calibre was being used prior to the upgrade. If it was from the 1.x series then many plugins might need to be upgraded and not just Alf.

I had the apprentice alf plugin to strip DRM installed and it was working fine with Calibre until the last update. I had to reinstall the plugin and it appears to be working now. I didn't know if the upgrade stripped the plugin; I guess it did! But it seems to be working fine after reinstalling it

Thanks to everyone.
