Thanks .
AFAIK, yes.

Actually I think there is a minor issue with the USB device ID being not being in the 1.48 driver.

Davidfor does have some ideas about this... expect him to chime in in a few hours.

As a sanity check, the prices for Chapters are in CAD, right? I was thinking of ordering a second H2O as a Christmas present, and was fairly unimpressed with ordering from Kobo directly. Given the shipping charges from Chapters, though, it would be less tempting to order from them instead if the prices were for some dumb reason in USD. I'm not sure why they would be, but their website doesn't say for sure

Nope, the prices are in U.S. dollars. At least, mine are. I don't know if that's because I've ordered from them before, so they know I'm in the U.S. or what. But it's $179 for an Aura H20, with $16.60 shipping and handling.

PeterT is right. The driver in calibre 1.48 does not have the device id for 1.48. I have a reasonably simple solution in mind, but have been waiting for someone stuck on 1.48 to get a H2O before trying.

The extended driver is a slightly more complicated. The kepub output plugin will work with 1.48. That can be used to convert epubs to kepubs and then send them. Doing it that way gives you most of the function in the driver. If the extended driver is really needed, it can probably be done as well.

I ordered a H20 from Kobo today but didn't ship yet. Free shipping. I tried the Kindle Voyage but screen was two toned and I retuned it right away. I'm thinking I'm going to really like the larger screen.

Originally I didn't want to convert files but really dont think it will be a problem.

The eBook Reader has a review comparing the Voyage and the H2O.

I was hoping, but wondered, and I'm glad I checked - I'd just need the device before Christmas, so I'd rather get the free shipping from Kobo, even if they seem to have no clue what they're doing, at times

Thanks for the info!

Not sure it's a defective behaviour but it seems to me the power button's functionalities are a bit borked.

In the user manual it says 2 secs push to turn it on, just a quick press for standby and a prolonged one to switch it off.

Well to me it's more like standby and power off cycle themselves with no chance to go one way or the other according to press lenght. Basically: I'm reading, I press pow button for *a while* (way more than 2 secs) and it goes into standby, then I switch it back on, I keep reading, I push pow button again for few secs, it switches off. Next time, it'll go into standby, time afer that it'll switch off..... short press simply does nothing. Is it normal?

Yes, the prices for me were in $CAN. I wasn't sure when I ordered if it would be converted to $US but I wanted to pay with PayPal so I was willing to pay a little more (since shipping isn't free to the USA - it is free from Kobo). But I checked my Visa account this morning and the price had indeed been converted to $US (maybe because of PayPal?) so it ended up actually being a few pennies cheaper than ordering through the Kobo site.

I received an email from Chapters last night that it had been shipped so it should be here next week sometime.
