Oberons are IMO the finest covers out there - just way too heavy for me to use anymore. I couldn't bear to part with mine even though I should. I'm still hoping to turn one of them into a sleeve.

I'm glad you got a good Voyage. Mine is so-so, but I will keep it as there is nothing better out there right now. I went the Kobo route a couple of years ago and have no desire to ever deal with them or their ecosystem again. I was on the fence with the Voyage, but this afternoon decided to keep it. I went ahead and bought out the SO's and bought the case. Maybe next year they will get the screens more consistent. |

I got the leather origami version (blue) and really love it. It makes it a whole lot thinner than the case I had for my Paperwhite2, and the stand works better than I thought it would. Feels very solid.

I have to admit I visualized a case that would flop around by bending to easily at the creases. But it actually works very well and is a clever design. I turned off the SOs so it turns on the Voyage and takes me to my place in the book whenever I open the case. I also was skeptical about the top hinge rather than the usual side hing, but that works fine too.

I am interested in your impressions of the leather version. I have the plastic one in black. I very much like the design and function of the origami, but am mildly disappointed with the appearance of the plastic version. Do you feel that the leather quality, look, and feel nice enough to justify the $20 difference in price? On Amazon's site, it is difficult to see the difference. Does it feel like real leather, or is it essentially just a mico-thin leather veneer over the standard plastic case? Isa the leather on the back of the case too, or is it only on the front flap?

No. It is still thinner than the PW2 was in the official case. Or at least that is how I remember things as I no longer have a PW2 to compare it with. But to me it seems like the Voyage inside the origami case is about 3/8" to 1/2" thick, and the case only adds about 1mm to each side at most. It is held in with magnets instead of pressure, so they kept it smaller. It doesn't feel heavy to me at all.
ETA: If you live near a Best Buy you can go check it out to see the weight and size. That is what I did. The box it comes in easily allows you to remove the case without damaging the box are breaking a seal, so you could even take it out and examine it in the store. And the case it tapered around the edges just like the Voyage, so it feels even less bulky than the 1/2" or so thickness makes it sound. Very comfortable to hold and it has a nice texture too. Very much agree with Jack. It's not bulky at all. I looked at the voyage origami case at Best Buy and can say it's definitely a smaller more compact package all around than the PW2 in the original Amazon PW case. If you have the PW2 and the original amazon case, you'll find the voyage in the origami case to be even less bulky. I found the origami case to be super nice when I saw it in person. I can see it being really nice on the voyage.

On my Voyage the blue tinted area of the screen is very clear, but the blue is rather vivid. Up at the top of the screen where it turns more yellow, it is cloudy/shadowy, but the text is still sharp even there. The best way I can describe the top 1/3 of the screen is to say it looks like a giant, mostly transparent, smudge on the glass. It isn't on the glass though, it is just a mild shadow on the screen.
